Atlas Media Group Reports & Reviews (1)

- Capitola, CA, USA

I submitted my daughter to a modeling job on KidsCasting.com (KC job ID# 130062) which claimed she'd earn $500/day. Per instructions, I sent my, my (parent) name, her clothing measurements and age, a headshot, and the city we live in. "The Atlas Media Group is now casting kids for a kid's clothing commercial filming. Our casting directors are looking for talent who are, happy, vibrant, fun. Seeking kid between the ages of 3 to 15 years old to appear in the kids clothing commercial. Kids that are selected will be compensated $500 per day."

A few days later I received this email from Raymond Creech, Production Mgr. of The Atlas Media Group: "We have reviewed your submission. The portfolio fits for the role we're casting for and glad to inform you that your child have been selected to feature in the upcoming commercial for Roy Robson Retail. Our obligation in respect to this piece of project is to generate some marketable commercial advertisement and exhibit a commercial character to attract consumer's attention to the kids fall collection. Please find below the details of the upcoming project.

Attached to this email is a image release contract regarding the commercial i need you to endorse and email me back with a copy of the signed contract so i can commence with further arrangements."

I looked up their website and the Rpy Robson clothing line. I thought it was odd that the clothing line was a European men's line, but the AMG's website looked legit (it isn't...), so I signed and emailed the "contract."

In a subsequent email, Raymond said:

"I have received your detailed information. Payment for the wardrobe cost and booking deposit will be mailed out to you this week from the sponsor company. You'll be receiving a check of $4,850 out of which you'll deduct $500 endorsed for your child booking deposit and forward the rest of the funds to the fashion stylist in charge of the wardrobe which will cover for the wardrobe cost, customization, and shipment cost to you. Kindly be on look out for the mailed package and keep me posted as soon as you receive it and have it processed. I will send you further instruction on how to send the funds for the wardrobe to the fashion designer that will ship the wardrobe to you. Please reply to this email, acknowledging it as soon as possible so i can commence with further arrangements."

That sounded fishy, so I did more digging. Their website is fake - images likely from stock photography or stolen from other sites. The links to their videos go to another company's Vimeo videos. If you read the verbiage on their website carefully, you'll see it says nothing. Then I found the very helpful Facebook page about this particular scam, and how many other people were also scammed:

The scam is to try to get people cash/deposit the check they are sent, then mail their own check to the fake stylist, then eventually the check they deposited bounces.
