I applied to a remote job from indeed, and about a half hour later I got an email from an 'Emma Douglas' and the headline was ******** ******** (******* is what I applied to, had an email address [email protected]) they stated they came across my profile and have unique offer for me. They're looking for customer service reps and offering $1020/week for full time or $510/week part time and to contact them at [email protected]. I was suspicious from the title and how the email was put, email address, and just the feeling this didn't seem like how other employers have contacted me in the past. When I'd ask questions about the job but stated I was interested I received an employment agreement to sign and questions unanswered. I signed the agreement and they have my address and email but nothing else. They say the trail period for the job is 7 days. After that I received an email stating I was accepted for the trail and this is where I first heard they needed me to do transactions for clients through bitcoin! Told me that they'll send me money through etransfer because I needed to have a sufficient bitcoin balance. They requested this info: holder name, bank name, email, phone number, have you used etransfer before? Do you have online banking? I haven't heard back for 2 days now so I think they moved on to someone else. I have screenshots of the emails exchanged but can't upload them.

I am an international student and came here in Canada on January 22 . Since , I was looking for part time jobs on indeed and applied for some.

After some time I received an invitation from a company called Axinet Systems to apply for Customer Service Representative as part time job with 520$ per week salary.

I searched for the internet and it looked like a legal company to me and the email address associated was also on the domain name of company.

I applied and the gave me an agreement to sign and I signed it . They said that they have to deal with customers with Bitcoin . They said there will be 7 days of trial period and one the first day they said me to buy 10 dollar bitcoins from the bitcoin atm nearest to me , they sent me a qr code with bitcoin wallet and said me to scan and buy 20 dollar bitcoins.

After that I searched on internet and found bitcoin scams in Canada and I asked them some questions that how will I know where the bitcoin is purchased and after that the hr manager talking to me on telegram disappeared .

The whole chat for trial period was on telegram with there hr manager and when I asked them questions they deleted the whole chat even it was not visible on my side and disappeared.

They asked me for id on the start of trial period , unfortunately I provided them my passport photos front and back because I did not have any Id as an international student expect of sin and study permit. But I only gave them my passport details and email.

I think it was a bitcoin scam as I read on BBB.
