Selling oil tank for $150. Guy contacted me. Wanted to send certified check for that amount plus shipping fees. Received check for $1,280.00. Had him call and questioned why so much. He said that he owed the extra to shipping company. Also asked by it came from CA. Said it was his partner. Took to bank Fri 3-17-17 asked when funds would be available. Teller asked if we were worried about a check, we said yes, so she said to check by Wed or Thurs. Sat we received another check for the same amount from Green Spot LLC 354 Litchfield Rd New Milford CT 06776. We questioned that and were told that that was his other partner and there was confusion as to who was supposed to send the check that we could just rip that one up. We ripped in half, but saved b/c it all seemed sketchy. Wed 3-22-17 I checked bank and the funds were listed as a misc. withdraw. He contacted me the same day and said that the check should have cleared. I told him what it said and that it seemed sketchy. He said that it was weird and that I should call the bank. The bank said that it was a fraudulent check. We have a picture of the check that was deposited and all the info from the bank. We also have the other check that is ripped in half. Both my fiance and I dealt with the individual. He got nothing from us, but we wanted to try and save someone else from becoming a victim
