This phone # repeatedly calls me on a daily basis - I do not answer as “no name is shown on the caller ID. Tonight, I was so fed up with the repeated calls, I dialed the # back and someone answered indicating that it was being recorded and then immediately asked “can you hear me OK?”! I immediately hung up without saying a word because I have heard that if you answer that question some type of scam is triggered. Hopefully, by providing this phone # someone can “shut them down” and charge them for their illegal activities!!

My mother is 90 years old. She received a call today from 614-412-6332. They asked her name, she said yes, and they hung up.

They repeatedly call your phone with a computer generated voice telling you the call is recorded then ask if you can hear them ok. When you say "yes" they hang up. Read about this online as well.

I get about 15 phone calls a day from the same four people who often change their names each phone call. I know that it is the same four people because they call so much that I've started to recognize their number. At first, I never answered the phone calls but then I got annoyed and when I answer, I don't say anything. I just wait for them to say "Hi this is (name) calling from a recorded line with" and the line goes silent for a minute, like they intentionally cut out what business they are calling from, and follow with "can you hear me okay?" I hang up. It's so frustrating to be called so much during the day. Each time they call me from one number, I block it on my iPhone and they find more numbers to call me from. I have people who call me so it tricks me sometimes into answering because it's a phone number with the same area code as mine. I used to think it was maybe my son's doctors office, people calling from work, etc. I'm going to change my phone number to avoid this and will be sure to ask my phone company to block robocalls to avoid my phone being blown up by these people. The most common names they say are Mason, Joe, Angie and Angelina.

Received numerous calls from 510-143-5576 in California. It turned out to be a "Can you hear me?" scam. Now I am waiting to see what, if anything, comes from my responding with "Yes"

- Norfolk, VA, USA

Caller called with static in background. A clear male voice came through saying "can you hear me now". I said "yeah", then the call ended.

I have a land line phone. No caller ID. So, I answer the phone when it rings. This was a recording of a female voice asking "Can you hear me?". It repeated twice before I hung up. So, that scam is making its rounds.

Ithis number called me 3 times in a row and on the third call I picked up and they asked if I could hear them. I told them to take me off their call list and they hung up. I keep blocking numbers like this but a similar number, just slightly different continues to call me.

- Virginia Beach, VA, USA

I answered "yes" to a voice asking me if I could hear her. I did this before I remembered that this was a scam I heard about on the news.

Person calling said can you hear me and i said yes and then hung up

- Virginia Beach, VA, USA

Phone call that begun by sounding like someone dropped their phone, then asked if i could hear them. Said yes, and then went on to offer a free gift card. I told them to take me off their list. Hard to tell if it was a robo call or real person. I called and reported to Federal Trade Commission. Seem they are using the "yes" to order products and/or magazine subscriptions. FTC said to return all package received to sender and to not pay any bills received from vendors. Cannot report to Credit Bureau as they do not have SSN.

Got this call asking Can you hear me? I said Yes! Then proceeded to tell me that a Resort I had been to in Va Beach gave her information and I was invited to free trips... then it occurred to me that I had seen/read about the "Yes" scam so I asked what Resort in Va Beach instead of answering me, she kept trying to get me to say yes or ok to transfer to a respresentative to set up the trip... on the 2nd time of me asking her what Resort in va Beach ... she hung up! I immediately called the phone number back and it said this was not an active number
