Career Starters Reports & Reviews (3)

I initially used this website a year ago and I remember paying for a test and study materials. Now, in hindsight, it was incredibly stupid. However, I wake up today to see that I have been charged $9.95 for something I did not authorize. It shows as "pending" on my account. I have since disputed the charges and closed the account. BUYER BEWARE! Do not use careerstarters.org for anything. They are scammers and will later debit your account without prior authorization. I will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission as well.

In April of 2021 Careerstarters.com illegally took $9.95 from my checking account without my permission. I was not ever notified there was a charge pending on my account and the other day I went to use the Bank of America ATM in Sun City, Arizona to get cash but I was denied and the message from the ATM said my account was frozen because of "suspicious" activity. I immediately looked at my B of A app...and it said my account had been charged $9.95 by careerstarters.com. I had not ever heard of this company and I tried to call Careerstarters.com numerous times...like 25 times...and left numerous voice mails asking for a return call from them to inquire about this dubious charge on my account. Careerstarters.com did not call back even though on their voice mail it said "we will contact you within an hour." They never have called back and their illegal transaction on my account was a month ago. I reported the situation to Bank of America and filed a claim of a fraudulent charge on my B of A account. Finally, I found out I could request a refund on the Careerstarters.com website (In very fine print) and I was finally given my money back only after I filed a claim of consumer fraud with Bank of America...which refunded my money. I'm not sure if Careerstarters.com refunded the money or if B of A did so. But, about a year ago, I got snookered into ordering the US Postal Service study guide as I was planning to apply for a position with the USPS. I was led to believe I was being charged by USPS for the study guide...but it turned out to be Careerstarters.com. I ended up paying $49.95 for the USPS career guide when I actually really thought I was taking the USPS exam to qualify to apply for a position as a mail carrier. Careerstarters.com didn't make it clear they were only sending me a practice test with USPS...it was not actually the real exam as I was led to believe. Careerstarters.com is not affiliated with the USPS and they use deceptive practices to make job seekers believe they are really taking the USPS exam...but in reality it is only a practice test that in hindsight I don't think I needed since I thought the USPS test was simply based on common sense and that practice test didn't really help me in the end. I was eventually hired by the USPS but WARNING...Careerstarters.com is taking money from innocent people who believe they are really taking the USPS tests when in reality USPS does not charge to take their exams to apply for postal positions. Then a year later Careerstarters.com charges the $9.95 fee for another subscription to their "services" which I did not request nor do I recommend. AVOID Careerstarters.com. They are not a reputable firm and they will continue to take money out of your account at a later date. How is this legal?! Do not get caught into the trap that I did with Careerstarters.com. They should be more upfront about their services rather than pretending to the public that they are officially endorsed by the USPS. When I contacted Bank of America and reported the charge by Careerstarters.com as fraudulent last month for the $9.95 charge...the B of A representative said they had numerous complaints about Careerstarters.com...for similar scams against other unknowing consumers like myself. Then why doesn't B of A ban Careerstarters.com charges if they know it is a scam?! Shame on you B of A...and again...for your own good...don't do business with Careerstarters.com. They will continue charging you fraudulent fees unless you complain to your bank as I did. I also reported Careerstarters.com to the Federal Trade Commission.

I had previously applied for a USPS postal position and got an email from what looked like USPS, with a number to call. I called the number, they requested $49.99 for study materials to take the test/assessment needed to get a postal job. Come to find out, you do not need this website to study for the postal assessment and you do not need to pay anything for study materials. They are a scam and prey on individuals applying for USPS positions. I called the support services number, and reported my findings back to them and told them that I wanted a full refund. The moment I brought up "that this was a scam", I was automatically refunded half of my money. I wish to be fully refunded, but they have their "clauses" and "policies" that make it nearly impossible to get a full refund. I hope that this company is exposed and does not scam any other individuals applying for postal positions.
