A woman named Lenore from Coast to Coast Data Search left a message on the healthcare office phone that her firm was contacting me to determine if I had treated a "Debra Sales". I returned the call and she asked for my name. I stated my name. She said they were uncertain whether I treated this woman and that she could send me an authorized and signed HIPPA form from the patient. I asked why the patient did not know whether she had been treated at my office and she said they were an investigative firm to determine if she had been treated at my office. I heard a child in the background and asked her about that and she stated she was working from home. At that point I realized I should not have given my name because she was seeking to elicit my personal information.
