David's Moving Company imposter Reports & Reviews (13)

I am sorry to report that I have fallen into the same trap that everyone else has described and have already lost $890. I should have checked this website before wiring money to this bogus davidsmovingco. There is a review filed with BBB which is my story verbatim. My question is: could we get a federal agency to do something about this?

Sounds like the same scam as others have reported.
Now using the name "Ramsey Shaw" he says he is a widower offering his Kawaii for "adoption". Complete with several pictures, and the serial number of the piano. Was suspicious when I couldn't find much information or reviews on "David's Moving Company" in Kansas City.

OK been digging - the domain is registered in Iceland, the 2 websites are linked to social media sites with blogs, posts and reviews, including Yelp reviews, so you do a quick check to verify a hunch that this could be fishy - seem OK right? BUT EVERYTHING is fake - even the images on the website have the name and logos photoshopped in on the truck and boxes, and all the images used are from other websites ( use Google image search )

These guys did a LOT of background for a long grift! Im in the middle of playing this out with one of them ( I told them in interested and they email me 2-3 times a day ) - anyone have suggestions for ways to [censored] with them? Its a shame Google keeps the site as the top search result, above this site, it should be taken down
Impressive scam - WOW - so don't feel too bad if you fell for it

Under the name of Nancy williams , a so called widow of an amateur musician, the “piano for adoption” is nothing but the introduction for a scam.
I google her e-mail and reverse googled the piano pictures, and the truth of the fact is that there are plenty of signs of evidences everywhere:

and the list goes on and on.

Rest assured that I found it way before any financial lost.

Thank God I found this website. We started down this path of a widow wanting to donate the spouse's piano. Photos were shared, pleasant emails exchanged. It all felt very good. I initiated a Zelle payment last Friday to cover the moving costs, using the exact Zelle contact info that the mover provided. The Zelle transaction miraculously failed. Today the moving company gave me another Zelle account to transfer to. I called my bank to make sure the first transaction would not be sent. The bank said it would not, but to do some deep digging on David's Moving Company because moving scams are extremely common. Sure enough, it took 1 minute to find this website and how others experienced exactly the same scam.

We are a non profit theatre company in Santa Fe,NM. We were offered the gift of a piano from a Ruby Rosa. She had us contact Davids Moving Co for quote, etc. We wired funds to their alleged bank account. 2 days later, they said they needed an additional $327 to cover past due storage fees. That got my concern and unfortunately as we researched Davids, we come across this scam report. Guess were out the $800 shipping fees we wired.

Same as others. Widow offering a piano with shipping organized by David's Moving Co. The wire info for their account is pasted below. I reported the bank account and website through the FBI's internet scam website and suggest you do too. The address on the bank account points to a furniture company called 8th and Mulberry owned by Elliot Lahn and Leah Lahn. The bank account owner, Josephina AKA Josie Vargas lives in Fresno, CA and can be reached at (559) 349-0343. Tough to know for sure what the connection is but if you lost money, that's where I would start.

Beneficiary Name: Josephina Vargas
Account Number: 88019911433002
Routing Number: 322273696
ABA/Wire Transfer Number: 053185613
Bank Name: Self Help Federal Credit Union
Bank Address: 2100 H STREET, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93301, USA.
Beneficiary Address: 1225 W 8th St, Kansas City, MO 64101, USA.

I was contacted by email saying a David Chapman's wife had died and he wanted to give me a Yamaha C2 grand piano for sale. He sent photos. I just had to pay for shipping to get the piano. He directed me to David's Moving Co to organise the shipping direct with them. Luckily I came across this website first and realised I was about to fall for a scam. They were offering to ship it all the way to Belize and I thought the cost for shipping was far too low considering what they would have to do to get it to me. Hope no one else loses money to these [censored] :-(

Same thing as everyone else. Didn’t catch it until the email they gave us for the Zelle payment didn’t go through. Address leads to an empty industrial lot, website is full of grammatical errors.
Initially contacted by a Richard Anderson, who sent the same photos as above. Close call.

Like everyone else I was told some poor widow wanted to give her piano to someone and I only needed to pay moving fee. I was suspicious because they only took cash transfers and can not be contacted by phone. Luckily I did not send them money. Criminal how these people can get away with this.

I'm currently in touch with these clowns who are trying to get my $795. I've had the full treatment - identical to others. Never heard of this scam but was able to slow them down and share what was going on with friends who helped figure out its bogus. Reported on FBI internet crime site FWIW. Can't believe this website - which somehow they've made it so you can't google their verbiage - is still up. Domain appears to be registered in Iceland. Who knows where they really are. Probably Russia or SW/SE Asia. Physical address is a vacant warehouse in Kansas City.

Our story was the same as above - only our contact was from a Richard Johnson of Kansas City, MO, but same back-story of his wife who had died and he wanted to find a good home for her Kawai piano. We were sent photos of the piano and referred to David’s Moving Co. where the piano was in storage. Several things tipped us off before we sent any money: Once we received an invoice from David’s Moving Co, Richard Johnson stopped responding to our emails with further questions. The wording on the website was unusual and unprofessional, AND they wanted payment via PayPal in advance of shipping. Usually, moving companies are paid upon delivery. Thankfully, the only thing we lost were a few days of excitement over something that seemed too good to be true. Turns out it was.
Total fraud

- Oklahoma City, OK, USA

(Report filed by BBB) Consumer and her sister are both piano teachers. Her sister received an email from a James Winston at [email protected]. He was offering a new Kawai piano from his wife that passed away. Consumer reached back out and was reconnected to a Patrick O'Mara at [email protected]. They agreed upon price was $780, but the only payment method they would accept was PayPal. Consumer made the payment on May 18. Two days later they requested another $298 for shipping fees. After it was paid they stated she would receive it in 10 days. After those 10 days, consumer received a later stating the government was putting a hold on the shipment and she needed to pay another $1300 as insurance for traveling but that it was refundable. Consumer no longer believes this is legitimate.
