- Lake Bluff, IL, USA

Recieved an intimidating letter in the US mail from the Department of Advocacy Services offering relief and assistances with my educational loans.

Making reference to the Department of Treasury Publication 4681

Consumer File Number: *** URGENT NOTICE

- Englewood, CO, USA

I received a letter I believe to be fraudulent from the IRS regarding student loan repayment. The phone number, case number and department it claims to be from could not be found through Google searches or searches on the IRS website (see attached photo). There was also no return address on the envelope. I have not been late on student loan payments.

- New York, NY, USA

I was sent a letter in the mail from this agency claiming that they would resolve my student loan debt if I paid them a portion of it. $9, 750 to be exact.

When I called the number on the letter, 1-888-253-1636, a guy answered and told me about their services. He wanted more information from me such as, the amount I pay monthly and what type of loan it was.

I told him I could not give that information until i verified the credibility of his company. I asked if they had a website. He said no they do not but that they were with the ScamPulse.com and a big agency. (But yet they have no web site). I asked what the name of the company was and he said it was the "Student Loan Assistance Service", yet on the letter it states they are, "Department of Advocacy Services"

He told me to take his number down.

I said I will do some checking before I give you any info and hung up.

Please investigate before someone gives them any money!!! Look at the envelope and letter their is no address. When I plugged in the name of the agency with the postal code on the letter the agency popped up. It could be theirs or they could be using someone else's business information.

- Mansfield, OH, USA

Received a letter in a white window envelope that staid "Time Sensitive - Important information enclosed" from the zip code 95813

In the letter it said that they were the Department Advocacy Services- 888-216-8179

Department of the Treasury

And to call them at that number before 12-7-15.

Called the number and it said "this call could be monitored"

Mark Miller was that person who answered the phone.

Said money was owed and it needs to be paid before 12-7-15.( $27,026)

We could resolved this distressed debt for as little as $94.59

Eliminated credit card debt in 12 months - Don't even have a credit card.
