Contacted an Andrea on Facebook Marketplace about a truck for sale, their response led me to Dianna Klein! And this is what I received...

Hello,
Here are some more details about my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500, it runs great! It has 5.9L V8 engine with only 55628 original miles. The price was reduced to $1,200 because I'm in a hurry to find a buyer to sell the boat in a maximum of 2 weeks when I will be leaving on military duty with my medical team out of the country (in Poland) for a year and I don't want to store it without using it. Right now I'm stationed at Malmstrom AFB Montana, doing special training and getting ready for my deployment in Poland to help the NATO team with this conflict in Ukraine. I had a prearranged deal with Facebook Dealership (using this service you will have 5 days to inspect/test the truck before I'll get any money) so my presence isn't necessary. I think I can have it there at your home address within 3 working days. Also, you will receive the title already notarized and signed over by me, along with the truck at delivery. So, you'll get the truck for $1,200, without any additional costs involved because I will cover the delivery fees. I need to know if you are interested so I can ask Facebook Dealership to send you the details on this deal.

In order to start the deal, I need your full name and delivery address so I can reserve the truck for you and they will contact you with all the instructions step by step on how to complete the deal. I will also attach some pics below.

Thank you, Dianna

I found a 1994 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 listed in my local newspaper for sale, 1400.00. I called the number, which was a text now number, and left voice mail. I also sent a text stating I was interested. A few days later I received a text stating it was his sister's. Truck and to email her at [email protected].

I emailed and received this in response: Hi, my name is Dianna. The 1994 Toyota Tacoma DLX 4X4 is still available for sale, priced at $1,400. It has 104,500 miles, gasoline, 3.0L V6 engine runs smoothly, automatic transmission, non-smoker, 4-Wheel Drive, CD Player, always garaged. The truck is in very good condition. It has never been involved in accidents and never had engine problems. Doesn't have oil leaks or rust, runs very well. Comes with a clean title, under my name. The only reason for selling is that I really don't use it anymore and it deserves a better home, I'm a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force and I was promoted and transferred and I'm very busy with my deployment. If you need further information please get back to me as soon as possible and I will send you more pics with it. Thank you!

My reply: Please send me a pic of the VIN. If that checks out I will proceed. Just out off curiosity why did you run an ad in a local WV newspaper?

Her reply: Because my son is from there ! And he posted for sale there, why all these suspicious questions?
I don't think asking one question and for a pic of the vin is "asking all these suspicious questions" I guess a long day of scamming can be tiring and could cause one to become a little short tempered, lol.

There are other exchanges between her and I but simply to see how far she would go with this scam. I have found several other articles where this person has been running scams for quite a while. Please be aware of this person and do not do business with them it is indeed a scam.

Saw an add in the Waterloo Courier about a pick up for sale - 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 for $1,600. After calling the number, we got an email address to use for more information. We responded thinking the person lived in Iowa and we could view the pickup listed for sale. Part of the response to our inquiry was 'I'm a Sergeant in Air Force and I was promoted and transferred and I'm very busy with my deployment. I'm here in Billings, Montana, at the Air Force Base. My Dodge is already in eBay's possession here in Billings along with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle shipping, payment and paper exchange. The truck is ready to be delivered to your place. I think I can have it there at your home address within 2-3 working days. You will have free shipping and 5 days to test-drive and inspect it before I receive any money.' (First red flag.) Then an invoice came ( eBay Buyer Protection Invoice - Order ID# 855222128064), supposily from eBay asking for the payment with eBay Cards and listed the places they could be purchased. (Big red flag.) Looked for similar scams with a Goole search and found that there were similar stories of scams where eBay cards would be the means of payment.
