Scammer's address PO BOX 100080, Kennesaw, GA 30156, USA
Type of a scam Phishing

I received this in the mail today 4/13/2023. It stated that I would turn 65 and approach my Medicare Initial Coverage Election Period. I must enroll in Medicare when first eligible or risk a reduction in my SS payment. It looks official. At first I was even going to fill out the form. But on a second thought, I noticed the things stood out,: (1) it stated Please acknowledge by May 6 2023 while I know that is not within the time period for me to enroll in Medicare; (2) the envelop states "Second Notice" while I have never received such notice; (3) I know even if one enrolls in Medicare later than the required period of time, it won't reduce in SS payments.

This kind of scam is targeting certain group of people. I wonder how they got my address to send the mail. Hope there is some system out there to stop this kind of scam. It puts a lot of stress on people to read this kind of mail and to identify the kind of scam.

I received the enclosed letter. Stating if I did not mail back, my social security benefits would be affected. Asking for my personal information. Threatening monthly penalties and eventually no coverage. Has an invalid telephone number. All of this is false and is being targeted to Seniors for personal information! Apparently this has been going on for awhile. I’m wondering why nothing has been done about this and why the rating it has?

I received this in the mail. It stated that I would turn 65 and approach my Medicare Initial Coverage Election Period. I must enroll in Medicare or risk a reduction in my SS payment. It looks official. The one thing that stood out, it stated Please acknowledge by April 21. I received it April 23. So I guess this way you send it back without researching it. SS gives you more time to send in applications and it would come from their office, not a third party, MAN THIS MAKES ME MAD, good thing I didn't fall into their trap.

Thank goodness I found this before falling for that scam! My mother just received this as well and was unsure.

Thank you for the information! Much appreciated.

Now that I have reached a certain age, I'm getting more and more of these type of mailings/calls. This one is labeled

2018 Benefit Information For WA citizens Only.. It says you may qualify for a state regulated program to pay for your final expenses.Respond by March 9, 2018. There are are people out there who would believe this, unlike me. It is a total scam directed to vulnerable senior citizens who will need this. I googled it and the ScamPulse.com warned that this is a scam across the US. They gave it an F. Please help your loved ones, friends, anyone who gets these mailings not too buy into it.

Long running scam between the 'client' and this mail house. The ScamPulse.com is Georgia and Missouri have issued warnings in 2016 about these misleading mailings that seem to offer something for free, prey on the elderly and their fears of funeral expenses, and also misrepresent themselves as government affiliated (there is in 2 point type a statement that they are not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency) despite the official look and sound of the title of the mailing. "2018 Benefit Information for Michigan Citizens Only". The mailings are sent 7 times to the addresses, unless, they call the 855-792-6172 opt out number (also in 2 point type). My elderly parents could not even read that teeny tiny type at the bottom of the information request card.

Received suspicious, vague notice in the mail titled, "2018 Benefit Information for Wisconsin Citizens Only." Says: "You may qualify for a state-regulated program to pay for your final expenses. It is important you know how to qualify for this affordable life insurance benefit available to you. This benefit will pay for 100% of all funeral expenses up to $35000. This payment is tax-free for WI residents. You are entitled to receive no-cost information as a resident of WI. IMPORTANT--Return this postage-paid card with 5 days."

Asks for name, address, phone, age, spouse's age and name.

Sender is not clearly identified (only "Direct Mail Processing, LLC). Envelope is stamped with "Second Notice - Time Sensitive."

This was addressed to me at my address; NOT addressed generically to "resident" or "occupant."

Not sure if this is a scam but it sure is questionable.

Third party mailer for insurance companies targeting seniors. Deceptive advertising. Looks like you will get money from the state of GA. My 85 year old mother was fooled, but I intercepted the return application she was about to send which would probably result in her getting a slew of mail offers from insurance companies which she would probably also fill out and return. This is not uncommon. I get deceptive advertising offers from businesses all the time, but have learned to recognize them. If it is too good to be true, IT IS. Unfortunately, our seniors are very vulnerable to these practices. This sort of advertising by mail or internet should be against the law.
