My husband and I recently lost our cat to a sudden illness so I was looking online to adopt or purchase a Himalayan or Persian cat or kitten. I had been looking online and messaging different sites. On Sunday January 24, 2021, I was contacted back via email by Elegant Persian Cattery. They asked about me and I told them that we recently lost a cat and was looking to find another one to give a home to, I told them that I had Himalayan cats for 30 years and that we currently have 2 cats and no children. I was asked which cat on their website that I was interested in and I said Buddy. I was told the cats are $600 and shipped out in 24 hours. All you have to do is show ID and a copy of the way bill at your closest airport and that the kitten would be shipped via United or Delta. These who have "Pet Safe Programs" have the kitten fly with someone not in cargo. I asked if they were legitimate and they said that they were Christians and only looking for good homes for the kittens. They told me that they accept PayPal and Zelle. I still questioned their legitimacy so I talked with my husband and he said I should ask for a video to prove that they were for real. They subsequently sent two videos. I proceeded to send them the $600 via PayPal. I used "Goods and Services" when I sent the money. The receiver Beatrice Mrwiandi said that she couldn't accept the money from PayPal via "Goods and Services" that I had to send it "Friends and Family". She refunded the money and I then tried to send it PayPal via "Friends and Family" but the transaction would not go through. I told the person that I had to use Zelle. I logged into Zelle under our banking app on Dollar Bank. I was told to send the $600 to Henry Eward and note "Item 023" and use the email address [email protected]. I did that and they wanted a screen shot that the transaction went through so I emailed them that.

The next day I received an email from Pacific Deliveries not United or Delta as I expected. They said that they received the kitten in a ventilated crate but due to the weather, they needed to use a refundable thermal crate that would cost $960, $1250 or $2000. I emailed the cattery person back and said that I didn't have any additional money to pay for that. At this point when they started asking for additional money, I knew that I had been scammed. I said that I didn't have any more money and asked for a refund. I never heard back from them. I reported this to the FBI online. I haven't heard back from them yet. My bank said since I sent the money via Zelle, I am not insured by the FDIC so I am out the money. I don't want others to fall for the same thing like I did. I was vulnerable after losing my cat and they preyed on my vulnerability.
