HCI Harrow Companies Inc Reports & Reviews (1)

HCI Harrow Companies Inc is a scammers’ organization. They are crooks. They took my money and did not do the job that I paid for. They kept postponing the installation dates until I got tired and gave up. Don’t be fooled by their official contract form and sleek sales man Kip Ar. The owner Kevin H is the boss of scammers. They are located at 101 W. Big Beaver Rd. Suite 1400, Troy, MI 48084. Their License # is 2102212158 on the contract form unless it is a fake. Telephone number is 248-687-1355, but they will not answer or return your calls.

I chose HCI Harrow Companies Inc to redo my driveway from HomeAdvisor.com. Apparently, HomeAdvisor.com does not do the good background checks of their contractors that they recommend in the website. I chose HCI Harrow thinking that HomeAdvisor.com will only recommend the reliable companies. I was wrong on that too.

I signed up with HCI Harrow Companies Inc to redo my driveway and Kip A, their sales rep, came to my house to meet me and told me about all the nice things he is doing for neighborhood and charities. So, I signed up the work with him on August 7 and paid the third of the cost ($2333) as a down payment. Kip A told me that the driveway will be done on 8/28. Somehow, he would not take the credit card although the contract form showed that they take credit cards. I wanted to pay with credit card so that if something happens, I may have a recourse by calling the credit company. Now I think that they were already planning to scam my money. A few days before the promised installation date of 8/28, I texted Kip A to confirm the installation date, and Kip texted me back saying I needed to call Kevin H or Tony, the scheduler, for the confirmation. I called the office many times, but I only heard the out going message, and I left numerous messages to Tony to confirm the installation date. I did not get any call back from Tony. During the week of installation (8/28), by calling many times, by chance, Tony picked up the telephone. So, I asked when my driveway will be installed. Tony’s reply was it would be done after Labor Day (9/4) which was week later. So, I thought that they might have a schedule slip. So, I waited for 9/5 to have my driveway installed, but no one showed up to work on the driveway come 9/5. So, I called Tony, Kip, and Kevin Harrow’s 24 hr line, but no one returned my call. During many calls, Tony picked up the call by chance, and this time he was telling me that I will get a call from the workers the following Tuesday (9/12) to schedule the work. I waited for the next Tuesday, September 12. No one called me and nothing was done on my driveway. So, I started again calling the office and Kip A and left many messages, but nobody was calling me back to let me know the status of my driveway installation.

By this time, I felt like that I was getting scammed by these people. So, I called the HomeAdvisor.com and complained that this contractor was not doing the work that I paid the down payment for. Then, HomeAdvisor.com put the low ratings for HCI Harrow Companies Inc on the website. Kevin H immediately called me and told me that the driveway will be done on Sept 19-20 and wanted me to change the rating. So, I asked him to complete the work, then I would call HomeAdvisor.com to change the rating. Come Sept 19, nothing was done. So, I called Kevin H directly asked him about the status of the work. Kevin said that because of the rain, they had to cancel the concrete work. So, I asked him if he will start the work next day (9/20). Kevin Harrow said that because of the rain, he had to reschedule next 2 weeks because the concrete is very hard to schedule. He even told me to check with Paragon Concrete. We had only a few hours of light rain the afternoon of September 19.

After this conversation, I decided to call Paragon Concrete, telephone number of which I found in the website. So, I called and asked if I ordered a concrete that day, how many days till the delivery. He asked me which city I needed the concrete. So, I told him that the house is in Novi. He said they do not deliver to Novi. So, I found that Kevin Harrow was lying to me. So, I asked the Paragon Concrete Rep. where I should get the concrete. He said I should call Superior Materials. So, I called Superior Materials and asked what would be the lead time from order to delivery. They said it was 2-3 days. This way I also found out Kevin Harrow was lying to me again. So, I called HomeAdvisor.com and asked for help and filed formal complaint. By Friday afternoon, Kevin Harrow called me and introduced Rodney Jackson, a concrete subcontractor, to do the work and promised me that they will do the work on Sept 26-28. So, I waited until September 26, but no one came to work remove the old driveway. So, I called directly Rodney. Rodney said that he had to take his son to hospital in an emergency. That sounded like a typical excuse for not showing up. So, I called Kevin H, but there was no answer. I texted him that unless Rodney showed up the next morning to complete the job by Thursday (9/28), I would escalate this issue with HomeAdvisor, and be calling my lawyer to file a claim against HCI Harrow Companies Inc. Also, I told him that I will file a complaint in ScamPulse.com, Michigan. Kevin H texted me back that he just spoke to Rodney, and he would be in the next morning. Come next morning, Rodney did not show up again. I called his number. When Rodney called me back, he said that he heard that I cancel the job. So, I told him that I would not cancel it if he showed up and completed the work. He said that he would be at the house soon. When I went to the house to see if he was there to work, there was no body working. So, I called Kevin H, but he would not answer. So, I texted him that I want my money back. He called several minutes later and became nasty and telling me that the money will be in the mail, which I couldn’t trust. After hanging up, a couple of minutes later, he called me back and his demeanor was changed, and he was apologetic. He said that Rodney is on his way to the house to start the work. So, I told him that I would be at the house in an hour to check if he was really there. After a couple of hours, I went to the house to check. No one was there working. Kevin  lied to me again. These people are all crooks! I texted Kevin to have Kip A, his sales guy, to deliver my refund to me because I don’t trust him mailing my refund.
