- New London, WI, USA

The phone rang. I did not recognize the number but answered it because I was expecting calls for home repair. The caller stated they were with Medicare and asked "can you hear me?" And I said yes. I knew as soon as I said yes that I probably got scammed. I hung up but they probably have me recorded.

- Milwaukee, WI, USA

I received repeated calls (at least 6) claiming to be from the U.S. government, but obviously were not. They were from a call center in India. They wanted to sell me a Medicare plan targeted at High Blood pressure.

- Menomonie, WI, USA

The caller asked me for my address and date of birth and then asked if my mother or father had Medicare. I hung up. I think this was a scam call

- De Pere, WI, USA

At 8:15 a.m. on January 23, 2020 I received a phone call. The number was a local De Pere, WI number that belongs some friends of ours

(it is a landline number) The man on the other end had a foreign voice, and said he was from the Medicare office. He asked for me and

wanted to know if I received my Medicare card. I told him Medicare does not call to find this out, told him I would not reply and hung up

- Burlington, WI, USA

I got a phone call on 1-17-2020 @ 2:07pm from 262-758-9064 stating that she was from medicare and needed to send me my new updated medicare card for 2020. She even gave me time to go get it, which I did not do. When I refused to give her my name, I told her "you tell me." She told me my last name and spelled it, then asked me if that was correct. I said yes, not thinking that medicare would not call me at home. Then she said my first name and asked me if that was correct. I then told her "No." She then spelled my daughter's name (who is only 40 years old, not on medicare, nor has my last name anymore). After saying no, she said that she must have the wrong number. I replied that I would call her and hung up.

Hispanic woman called indicating she was from Medicare and they needed to validate data on Mom’s MEDICARE card to send out replacement plastic card. Was early in the morning and I totally fell for it. She had all info and just needed the card number. When I asked if she could repeat it, she said due to privacy issues, I had to say it. Had been dealing with locating an assisted living for my 88 yr old mom and didn’t think. Gave her the number and last 4 digits of mom’s ssn. Woman transferred me to an Anglo supervisor who validated info. He transferred me to Hispanic man who was going to let me know when I would receive card. By that time, red flags were going off. Hung up and reported it to Medicare and local police. Reported it to FTC on 12/26.

Caller on answering machine claiming to be medicare. Message said "This is medicare, how are you this evening?" It was a woman's voice talking to my generic answering machine voice. I do not answer this type of call but wanted to report it.

- Waukesha, WI, USA

The caller said, “this is Grace" it was on a recorded line.  She said "Can you hear me?”

I instinctively answered, “Yes”. And then she hung up.

I am worried, because I heard about this scam and seemed to have fallen for it. Don’t know if there will be any repercussions.
