My son was scammed by a so called student debt center. He received a phone call stating they could help him with his student loan repayments. He never received any paper work in the mail nor did he sign anything. They signed his name on the documents.

I was cold called by a representative of Insurance Marketing Solutions calling themselves the Federal Student Debt Center. They told me I qualified for a Student Loan Debt Relief Program provided by their company. They claimed I would pay 6 payments of $99 then I would pay less then $20 for 120 Months. After which I would be relieved of the rest of my student loan debt. I received documents that looked very legitimate and signed them "seeing how Obama had created this program and it would save me several thousand dollars." The first representative did not follow through with the payments for April 1, 2016. I continued to pay my loan since I know better than to just quit paying a loan, especially a federal loan. I was called again July 20, 2016. They apologized for the inconvenience. I told them I was not happy and questioned the validity of their company. They assured me they were legitimate and offered to send accredited information. I again gave them the go ahead. The next thing I know my student loan company sent me a letter saying the forbearance I had requested was approved (I never gave the "ok" for a forbearance but thought it was part of the payoff deal) for 2 months and I was then charged for $99 for Aug and Sep 2016 by the Insurance Company. There has been no attempt to pay my student loan debt and the forbearance time has expired. I have tried to contact this company with the phone number I was given and it connects to a fax machine. I have emailed them twice with no response. I had to cancel my card to stop payments, causing quite a headache since I have many legitimate companies automatically taking payments for debts. The Insurance Marketing Solutions Company has not provided a service to me and they have fraudulently altered my federal student loan.
