IRS - acting as Reports & Reviews (62)

- Winsted, MN, USA

I received a voice message from # 323-471-1929 stating that I needed to call this number and contact Sarah *** - IRS or legal action would be taken.

- Rochester, MN, USA

Someone left a message they intended to sound urgent in effort to get me to respond to them. They are telling me it was the official final notice from the IRS Internal Revenue Service to tell me they are filing a lawsuit against me. I should call immediately for more information. The IRS will not contact you this way. Additionally they will not call themselves the "IRS Internal Revenue Service".

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Calling from the legal department of the IRS. Seriously. Not calling from the legal department of the IRS. The IRS is legal enough lol.

- Fargo, ND, USA

I received a phone call on Sept 8 supposedly from the IRS that I owed money. I did not listen to the entire automated message. I hung up and blocked the number from my phone

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

They called and left messages on 9/6 and 9/8/2017. The recorded voice stated the IRS has issued an arrest warrant against me and my physical property is being monitored. It is very important they hear back from me before they proceed further in any legal manner.

Claimed they were IRS and owed Back Tax for Tax Evasion. When asked to speak to a supervisor they wanted a CC to hold $200 to speak to a superior.

- Bismarck, ND, USA

I got a recorded message from the number above saying it was the IRS and there was a Lawsuit filed against me and to contact them right away so I did that, the guy answered the line pretty fast, individual has a foreign heavy accent, he was a complete jerk to me , but he never really asked me for my personal information, weird call , he just hang up on me

- Faribault, MN, USA

I saw I was getting a call from a phone number registered in Deatsville, AL. I don't anyone in Alabama. I didn't answer it and sent it to voicemail. I was surprised when I noticed whoever it was left a voicemail. It was as follows: "Final Notice from the IRS Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you, to get more information about this case file please visit your local IRS office or call immediately on department phone number 334-600-2419. I repeat this is the IRS please response. Thank you."

Of course I knew this was a scam right away. I'm sure if this was a legitimate "finial notice", I would already know about my "lawsuit". The IRS would never call and leave this kind of message, they only reach out via USPS mail. Also I've never listed this phone number while filing my taxes or on any tax return documents. Please beware!

- Andover, MN, USA

I received a voice mail saying there was a warrant for my arrest and that the IRS was filling a law suit against me. Call it back and they said I would be arrested and held for 48 hours transfer me to a "sergeant " who told me the same thing my phone was tracked and they are coming to arrest me, all my assets are frozen as well as my bank accounts.

They have called several times over the last few weeks, but today 5 times in 2 1/2 hours saying each time that it was the last time they would notify me that I was being sued - and claiming to be from the IRS

- Nashwauk, MN, USA

Caller identified themselves as from the Internal Revenue Service. They said we are being sued and wanted us to call them back. We just hung up the phone. They called twice today within an hour apart.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

I got a call from the number above saying they were the iRS and had been trying to reach me. They said this was the final call before the IRS initiated a lawsuit against me.

Received phone call stating IRS has a collection issue against me. Left a robo-call message. Didn't answer phone.

- Lubbock, TX, USA

I received a phone call saying that I owe the IRS and will be arrested if it is not taken care of immediately. I hung up on them.

We received three calls this morning. We let the answering machine pick up as we didn't recognize the number. The message says this is the IRS, and we need to call immediately about an lawsuit issued against us by the IRS.

We feel this is scam as the IRS would notify us by mail if there was any issue with our taxes.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Call this morning 4/27, saying that IRS is preparing a lawsuit against me and should call this number. It was a female who spoke perfect English with no accent. No information, no personal contact, no letters in the mail. I assumed it was a scam. I did not return this call.

- Saint Paul, MN, USA

Multiple automated calls on morning of 4/21, saying that I am being sued by the IRS and should call this number immediately. No information, no personal contact, no letters in the mail. I assumed it was a scam. I did not return this call.

The following information was included in a separate report and resubmitted by a ScamPulse.com staffer:

On 4/3 I received a phone call from a 315 area code (315-509-0985--same area code but different phone number as this online company has on their website--I have never received a call from this number or area code previously). Call was an automated message to call back the number before they "could proceed legally". It was only half a message, so I didn't know who I was calling or for what, although with the 315 area code I thought it might be about the jersey. When I returned call, I was told it was the IRS. Immediate red flag. They asked for my case number. I told them I had no case number or no case. She asked for name and address details to "verify" my case. I said I didn't know who she was or who she was with. She provided me with a supposed name and badge number. I told her that this was obviously a scam. She said if I thought it was a scam I could just hang up. She beat me to it.

An individual in a call center threatens to jail people if they do not pay back taxes. They are required to remain on the phone and provide a money order from Wal Greens.

- Saint Michael, MN, USA

I received a phone call from the "IRS" informing me that I was being sued for an audit done on my 2010-2016 taxes that found miscalculations amounting to $7201, with a total of $9,800 which includes the amount owed as well as interest and legal charges. As a result, my name had been blacklisted, I was going to be arrested, my Drivers License cancelled and all personal property ceased. I was given 2 options to rectify the situation, get a criminal attorney, or resolve the issue outside the courthouse. If I wanted to resolve the situation immediately, I needed to pay $2,000. They told me that talking to anyone regarding this lawsuit would result in immediate arrest. The first lady I talked to game me the name Christy McGlim with a badge number of GS1470 and case # BC1928. Then she passed me on to a supervisor. Cannot remember his name, nor did he provide me with any identifying information. I asked both individuals to tell me what SS# they had on file, neither would provide me with that number. I did not provide any additional information, nor confirm any information. I eventually hung up and called my accountant to see what was going on. After they asked me for $2,000 to make it all go away, I figured pretty quickly it was a scam.
