Medical MarijuanaInc Reports & Reviews (1)

- Chaska, MN, USA

(I had been searching for a work from home job during Covid while my children were doing distance learning.) I saw a posting in a local community Facebook page about a work from home job for a CBD Hemp med company paying $22 an hour. I googled the company and it seemed to be an actual company hiring for customer service positions. I contacted the woman who posted in Facebook messenger expressing my interest in the job. She encouraged me to download a messaging app called Telegram. I did and I connected with an interviewer from what seemed to be the profile of "the company." The interviewer was a bit unprofessional, with a lot spelling errors. I thought they may be foreign so, although it was a red flag it didn't seem too incredibly out of the ordinary. The interview was pretty standard although it was all done through the messaging app. They told me I was hired and needed to provide my info to HR and to set up my direct deposit and I would be paid for my training. They asked for my name, address, phone number, a photo to use for my employee profile and the name of my bank for their payroll department. (I did not provide any account numbers) It sounded legit at first, I had done several phone interviews during Covid and emailing with different hiring agents and I thought this was maybe how companies were transitioning. (I was unaware and desperately seeking employment during these uncertain times.) But, then it started to get even more weird when they asked me to go to Walmart to get a One Vanilla prepaid mastercard for the amount of $100. The interviewer said it was for the activation of the online employee portal to access the company and initiate the training. The interviewer told me it was urgent. It was starting to feel like a possible scam. I contacted the original poster in Facebook. I asked her some questions and she persuaded me saying she would help me with the start up $100. She reassured me it was a reputable company. I went to Walmart to buy the prepaid card, and the cashier at Walmart informed me it was a possible scam, that they see them often. I messaged the interviewer and asked to be put in contact with the company or HR directly. They refused to connect me and became very defensive. At this point the interviewer and the woman from Facebook are messaging me simultaneously and it occurred to me they may possibly be the same person. I am unsure, but it was very strange. I said I was no longer interested. I did not send money or account numbers.
