IP address was compromised. I spent 4500$ for lifelong protection of any of my electronic products. 2 years later my computer was hacked and Vantronix said it was my fault because I went to a porn site on a Sunday when my office was closed down and nobody has access to the computer but me. After many, many hrs 20+ hrs I talk to my brother who's an IT tech, and he explains that this company is not wanting to take responsibility for the hackers getting past the security they put in place. I mean, how do they say it's my fault when a VRN doesn't work. I ask the Vantronix tech John Carr how it happens, and he says, I quote, why don't you get your brother to fix it! I lost my c[censored] and said because I paid your company 4500$ [censored] to protect my computer.
Thus, the company doesn't want to take responsibility for the service they provide at all.

My computer froze and a pop-up add came on the screen. It looked like it was from Microsoft and told me to call this toll free number to resolve the issue. I called and was told I was speaking with a representative of Vanotronix, who claimed to be a third-party outsource tech company for Microsoft. The representative did not speak English well. He gave me a code so that he had access to my computer screen and began downloading and uploading different softwares to quote "protect my IP address from being stolen." I was then quoted a price of $499.99 in order to pay for 2 year coverage with this VPN. I was transferred to the billing department and they took my debit card information. During the 2.5 hour process of uploading the "security software" to my computer, the computer tech asked me to stay in front of my computer and kept opening the camara app so that he was watching me through my computer camara. This happened several times and he continued to claim it was an accident each time.
After a long wait, another billing representative called me, confimred my billing information, and had me give access through my bank account for the company AMZ Webtech Solututions to bill me. They then typed out all of my information on a PDF and saved it to my files.
I had not trouble with the computer for the next 2.5 weeks, but then one morning, while I was on my computer this number from Wyoming called claiming to be my computer technician and said that there were some viruses on my computer again. In the course of an hour phonecall, he got access to my computer screen again, deleted the software that had been uploaded, and claimed that he would refund me $200 because the software had "malfunctioned."
I finally looked up this company and read reviews that they have used this MO on many unsuspecting people and use their bank account informmation to slowly steal from them. I called my bank, got the first charge flagged as fraud, and was refunded the full amount by my bank.
The toll free number they gave me: 888-300-2375

This happened to my father- same exact thing- and they took remote control of his computer- after the freeze/freak out message and alarm masquerading as Microsoft error. Like you, they also called and asked for more money, but I believe the stop check was done in time- fingers crossed. Concerned this malware was not caught by MacAfee (which he has).

A Pop-up came on my computer. It froze everything. It said I had viruses and needed to call the number.

I called the number. They asked to get into my computer. They said I had many infections. They stayed in my computer for almost 3 hours. They said it was going to cost 700 + I gave them a check thinking there was something really wrong with my computer. THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.I didn't know they were scamming me. I was scared. I didn't know what else to do. They said they were Microsoft in the pop up but when you look at their website they say they are connected to any companies like Microsoft or Apple etc they only reference them. They put 4 programs on my computer Like Anydesk, Desktop Reminder; Connect Vantronix Ip; Network Security, rkill; my tech JRT.exe; they even put a pdf on the desktop with all of their disclaimers. I hope this helps in stopping them. This is scary and it makes you panic. We are hoping the check was stopped in time. We talked to them again to cancel all services and they said we still owed $290. All because of a pop up they send out that freezes your screen.
