Webfixers Reports & Reviews (1)

- Oak Park, IL, USA

On October 8 hackers broke into my computer and posted an alert that my computer was being hacked. They posed as Microsoft technicians and gave a phone number. I thought it was Microsoft and called. A man named Alvin from Webfixers came on and took over my computer making the case that my protective software and firewall was compromised. He said he was a certified Microsoft Technician. I thought it was legitimate until about 45 minutes later he said I should make a check out for $1000.00 payable to Webfixers and send to 1425 E. Saint George Avenue #1B Roselle New Jersey 07203. He asked for the name of my bank and the number of my check. I did not give the account number. He said a FedEx person would come to my house to collect or I could send by priority mail. He said he would get off the phone and "fix" my computer and would call back in 45 minutes. In the interval a computer savy friend came to apartment and saw the hackers at work. He unplugged the computer. When the hacker called immediately. my friend said never to call again and that he knew they were hackers. I notified my bank and they gave me the number of TransUnion and I am following through.
