Type of a scam Phishing
The first contact was in early December 2023. They asked for me using my maiden name (I've been married more than 10 years). The scammer was a female with a Hispanic accent. They stated that they had legal papers they needed to serve to me and were attempting to set up an appointment to do so and that if I did not comply I would be held in contempt of court in Seminole county (where I have not lived in almost 10 years). I then hung up on them. About 30 minutes later my father (who is elderly and lives in a different town more than 5 hours away) called and informed me that someone called him asking for me by my maiden name and stating the same reason. I told him not to worry, it's a scam.
Two weeks later the same scenario happened but the contact was from a different local number, and my elderly father was even more concerned.
January 11, 2024 I received a call from yet a different local number. This time they had my married name and it was a male with no accent. He didn't threaten me but he did say he needed to serve me with legal papers and was fishing for information about when I would be home. He tried to confirm his identity by using the last four digits of my social security number and my current address. When I told him I wanted to look into these papers before I gave him any more information, he gave me the following:
The law firm: Kirkland Law Group
The phone number: 877-350-2992
And a reference number for the case: DA-10127549
I proceeded to look up this information and found nothing. I then checked both Seminole county courts and my current county's courts for my name, both maiden and married, and found nothing.
