Our title company and realtor warned us about home owners recieveing several mails about a Home Warranty expiration. We recieved those and each started you need to call (due to time-sensitive) or be ineligible for this coverage. They did not state a particular company, but they knew who our mortgage company was, our address, and names and sent the several mail within 20 days of our closing! I read on a different letter in fine print on the bottom that they obtained all this information via public records?! I did not call this number, but it’s obvious that they wanted money as the mail tried to scare us on the repair costs of air conditioner ($2,390-$7,134), furnace ($2,442-$5,780), hot water heater ($140-889) and refrigerator ($350-820)

“Kevin Johnson” attempted to sell me a home warranty for a home we just purchased. The letter was styled in a way that made it appear to be from my lender. He proceeded to tell me that the down payment needed to be paid today and if the call was disconnected my file would be closed permanently. I called my lender and they had no knowledge of this so called company.

I have received SEVERAL of the "FINAL NOTICE" letters from the same place asking that I call to renew the "warranty" on my home. First I want no warranties; Second, this same letter has been FINAL NOTICE for almost 2 years now. I never call them as I know it's a scam and just now did a search on the 800# supplied and found it positively is a scam. The name of my bank is wrong; I've only inherited the property 9 years and I have no intention of calling them. THESE SCAMS MUST STOP!!!!!!!!! They come into my cellphone, snail-mail and email and all are deleted or blocked. It's getting so I don't trust LEGITIMATE COMPANIES ANYMORE!!

Kept receiving an urgent letter from someone called Home warranty department wanting my immediate response and had the term "final notice" that I should contact them about a home warranty that was going to expire. I already have a home warranty with American Home Shield that I'm very happy with I told them that I had previously called requesting they remove me from their mail list. Note I've already called them once before to remove me from their mailing list which obviously wasn't done. The woman I spoke with said well you don't even own your home because you have a mortgage on it. And I said no no that's not how it works I used to work at the mortgage industry you do own your home when you have a mortgage on it. At first she was very nice and accommodating said she would remove me from the mailing list and then she started saying well you know American Home Shield is under investigation for fraud. I said I don't care I'm happy with them and have had them for 10 years. Initially I called because the window on the envelope showed final notice and my name. That's why I initially called again to be removed from their mailing list and tell them I didn't appreciate them having the final notice show through the envelope window. Even a creditor can't put that on piece of mail. The letter creates a sense of urgency. I've seen pictures of the exact same letter from others that have reported this to the BBB. She told me that American Home Shield was being investigated for fraud and that they had a AAA rating with the better Business bureau. All BS.

Received a home warranty expiration notice from an anonymous company which obviously got my address from the original mortgage on my home, which was very outdated information. I never had a home warranty to begin with, and they are very vague about whether there actually was one. But, they're clearly using scare tactics to deceive people into buying their service. Obvious signs they are borderline scammers: No website provided, no mailing address provided, no email provided. The only way to contact them is via an 800 number. You should NOT call them.

- Little Rock, AR, USA • Sep 25, 2024

I have received multiple mailings stating FINAL NOTICE. I did not call as there was insufficient contact information. They had my name, address and mortgage lender in the request to call.

- Sparta, TN, USA • Sep 16, 2024

We called the number and they said we had to make a $295 deposit to hold our home warranty eligibility and couldn’t hang up and call back because they already gave us the information and would red flag our house to other companies. Said it was a refundable deposit in the next month until we made a deviation and wanted to make the $250 payments a month for 18 months and the next 18 would be free. Then right after we gave card info changed our minds and didn’t want it. Transferred us to a “manager” Who are you with us on the phone for 15 minutes asking why we wanted to get a refund, what changed our mind so fast, he’s just so confused. And then tried to play victim and asked why I was yelling and talking over him. Then he tried to threaten us saying houses in our area were paying $5000 to fix plumbing issues and asked if we were prepared to pay that. They also said they looked up our third-party warranty company that the previous owner bought us and said they had bad reviews and they would not pay for our AC to be fixed that we needed to buy their warranty.

They claim that our reverse mortgage (the REAL one is with a name very similar to the scammers) has no home warranty.

- Baltimore, MD, USA • Jul 02, 2024

These people are wanting me to contact them about home warranty through a mortgage company that I no longer have. I have paid off my mortgage six years ago. I never had a home warranty on my home. There is no indication as to what company they are from. I do not call people back that I don't know. The phone number they want me to call is ###-###-####.

- Lafayette, TN, USA • Jun 26, 2024

I was told if I didn't purchase home warranty today that my home would be repossessed

- Spring, TX, USA • May 24, 2024

The letter looked legit from our Amgey Bank and indicated that my "existing" property home warranty may be expiring or may have already expired. In bold text it said "you have not contacted us" to get your home warranty up to date. Then it said in bold text "Call immediately" as this is our "Final Attempt to Notify you" phone number 1-800-692-4491. There were no prices shown on the letter but it would have been easy believe it might be real and I must call and talk with them. Fortunately I checked facts online and Amegy does not offer a home warranty and the phone number on letter took me right to the ScamPulse.com site. The use of the Amegy name on a scam should be illegal.
