Signed a contract on 5/1/24 and paid $2300 cash deposit. Men came out the next day & removed old retaining wall and started new wall, in the rain all day. After that nothing but promises, excuses and attitude. He promised a $600 refund and cancel the contract (due to labor issues) but so far only paid us $120 of refund. Have sent numerous texts but now receive no answers. Wish we had read the reviews before hiring him. Met him in Lowe's when looking at retaining wall brick. Total con artist.

Definitely a scam artist

I paid this guy (cashapp says Mark Bushrod), but the contract signature doesn't look like that. He was to take down 6 trees, grind the stumps, and level the ground. Down payment of $1700. He took down 5 (took a couple weeks, excuses). The 6th tree was taken down, and only 2.5 stumps were ground, with no ground leveling. I was on vacation and he was pressuring me to send the balance of $2700 so he cld "pay his guys". ($3400 was agreed upon for the entire job). I sent it, forgetting I already paid $1700 for the deposit. I asked for it back, and it took almost 2 weeks for him to give it all of the $1000 back. Now, it's been over another week, he's been paid in full, and the stumps still aren't ground down, and the dirt is still not leveled. He's still making excuses. He claimed his machine broke, so I told him to rent one and finish this job. He hasn't of course, so I'm taking him to court, and making sure he's removed from Angie's List where he contacted me after I input my need.

Joshua Johnson is a con man.

If i could give Joshua Johnson a zero star I would. He claims to be this 5 STAR business, but he is the furthest thing from it. I hired him to repair the concrete around my pool. We agreed upon a price and I paid him a down payment of $1300 and he said he would start the work the following Thursday. When Thursday rolled around he sent two gentlemen that showed up late and in the 5 or 6 hrs they were there they actually did about an hours worth of work which consisted of them mixing a bag of concrete and smearing it all over my pool decking. Which is so far from the job he was hired to do its not even funny. There was also concrete inside my pool which was not the easiest to clean out. Upon completion he called me and told me his workers were complete and that my wife had said that she was happy with the work, which she NEVER said. When I contacted Mr. Johnson and told him that nothing that his employees had done was what we agreed upon he told he would personally come and complete the job to standard the following Thursday. I told him I wanted to do another face to face prior to Thursday to ensure we were both on the same page as to what the expectation of the project where and agreed to that meeting. When Wednesday rolled around I contacted him to ask when he was coming to do the face to face. Then all of the sudden the plan has changed and he's sending different workers. At this time I had my fill with his run around and excuse after excuse and lie after lie so I fired him. He has agreed to give me 45% of the money he had received so that came out to $585 which he said he would repay, but now all I get are more excuses and lies as to when I will receive the money. To me it's not about the money, I could care less about 585 bucks or the 615 that he stole from me(if I ever get the 585). It's about a man agreeing to do work and paid to do that work and then following through with what he was paid to do. It truly is sad that it is so hard to find someone that will do an honest days work. These lowlifes are so small minded that they will steal scraps instead of doing good work and receiving more work from good work and in the end making more money. This man is a con artist and nothing more. Do your research. Google his phone number 910-676-9002 and his name Joshua Johnson and you will find a treasure trove of bad reviews from all of the people he has ripped off. BEWARE-He is a Professional Scammer

This guy, Joshua Johnson and Benjamin Handy are professional scammers. I hired them in August 2023, they took a deposit 2,400...then asked for 1,300 in materials (large job)...then after numerous calls, texts, and broken appointments, they finally had a truck drop dirt on top of my grass. This was for a garage, not something I want built 6-10 inches higher than my driveway. they worked for 2 hours, then he sent me a text asking me what cash I had on me so he could pay his guys. Really? WOW, not the most professional. When I refused, he got an attitude. So, I fired him. Since then, he has made numerous promises to make payment of my refund, which, just like everyone else, he didn't do. But, he knew enough to drop the dirt to prevent it from being a criminal case. ANYONE who does not have any work done, please file as a criminal case, I will gladly go and sit as a witness to the scam these two do!

We hired him back in August 2023 to pour a concrete slab for our shed and Fire pit, and just like most, realized something was up and started looking at reviews. We called him the next day to cancel the service and get at least a partial refund. Needless to say we didn’t get our money back. However my husband did file a small claims suit against him (funny enough the guy behind him was there for the same exact thing). But obviously he hasn’t shown up. We’re still waiting to get our money back, but with everything it’s been excise after excuse

SCAM Artist and Thief

A1 Concrete and Tree service, 225 Salmon Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28306 has been stealing money from people in the Fayetteville and surrounding areas. We were taken for $2700 and many others have been taken for more.

We hired them to remove old walkway wood and pour concrete for the walkway. They did take up the wood and left it in my yard and we paid someone else to have it removed. I thought paying all the money up front was unnecessary, but since the guy Joshua was professional we gave him the money when they started working. After the first day they did not return until 3 days later for a couple of hours. I called Joshua to ask when he was going to finish and he said the end of that week. We're still waiting and I am attaching document and pictures.

Please warn everyone to stay away from this company because they are a fraud. Joshua Johnson number is 910-676-9002. He works with another guy named Benjamin Handy. They travel in a Silver Honda CR-V and a Silver Kia Soul. Thanks concern citizen

Please help me take this company and the owner before the court

Hello friends,
About three months ago, I contacted via Angi a company called “A1 concrete and Tree Service” owned by Mr. Joshua Johnson. We signed a contract to have him extend my driveway and remove some trees and bushes from my yard. The total price was $4200. He requested that I pay $2500 up front and the rest, after he completed the job. I found it weird, but I paid the $2500 in cash. In my mind, I saw him as a young hard working American earning his paycheck. As a young working man myself, I wanted to support him and felt like I can trust him. That same day, he removed bushes for about 45 min and left. Since then, he hasn’t come back. He ignores my calls, always give excuses like I have COVID, there is no concrete….). It wasn’t until last week that I did some research about this guy and his company that I realized that he has been doing this for years and there are a plethora of people complaining about him.
I called one day and asked for his address this is what he gave me: 1905 Worth Word Dr. I am not even sure if this is his address. I am not sure if the name that he is using is his actual name, I am not sure if his business is even registered. In a nutshell, I have very little information about this guy and his company. I am however determined to take him before the law, and make him face the consequences of his actions. More importantly, I want him to stop doing this to people by exposing him. Any information leading to his address or how to proceed will be greatly appreciated.

Received contact from this company from a Facebook home improvement post I filled out. A vague contract without a date with agreement for two concrete repair and staining of $1500 and $900 deposit. Joshua Johnson and his crew painted 1/2 the concrete driveway and returns for more of deposit to buy more paint. I said no and they never returned. Of course there is no address, email, phone number on the contract. I took a picture of their license plate before they left and ran it. It's a rental from out of state to an unknown or published company.
Lost $900 they claimed the paint (stain) was $90 per can they used 3. I found the same exact paint in Lowes for $29. Finished the driveway myself and I am still hoping to run in to him.

I initially called and looked up Johnson concrete and somehow contacted me from this company claiming he was a concrete man. Joshua Johnson and his crew came out to give us an estimate. I believed his business was who my father had hired but shortly found out he wasn’t. He said he needed a deposit of 3,400 total 6,250. We were excited and did not do our due diligence. We dealt with his lies for a month for a job he said he can do in four days. We ended up hiring someone else. He needs to be stopped and up under the jail for all the people he has stolen money from. I blame myself for this mistake because I normally do my due diligence in looking out for scam artists, but this one slipped right out from underneath me. Gave dude the 1200 for down payment, and then I went on the internet to read his reviews. I immediately knew we had been got. Asked for the downpayment back and then the lies began. I was lucky to get back 300 and very lucky that I did not give him the other 1250 because I would have really been out of pocket.

I was scammed as well. This Joshua came, gave a price of $1100.00 and said he needed down payment of $600 with his signed contract. His 4 guy crew dug out the site and that was the last I've seen of this guy. I have lots on text messages with excuses from having COVID, concrete truck is backlogged, and more lies. On 8/23/21, he texted saying he would have to refund my money, no refund. I'll give you cash money, no refund, 9/25/21, I'll send you another check with a tracking # and it should be there by Wednesday. 2 weeks later, still no refund. I had to get another company to correct and finish the job and this guy told me he had to complete 3 other jobs that this Joshua scammed. Joshua gives private business a bad name and makes it harder to trust legitimate businesses out there. He is a compulsive liar, has taken numerous hard working people's money, and should have to pay for every dollar he's taken from people. I will be going to small claims against this #@!#&!. A1 Concrete and Tree Service (also known as A1 Concrete and Restoration) is a SCAM. The "owner" signed his vague contract as Joshua Johnson. He took our money and never completed the job. We had to constantly call him just to get him to come remove the old driveway and haul it away (about $1700 worth of work). We gave him $4100.
He said it was a "3-day job" and a "turn-key operation" - - we eventually hired another contractor to clean up the mess that he left in our front yard. We waited over 3 weeks for him to finish, all the while with a dirt driveway and front walkway. He is as crooked as the day is long. DO NOT HIRE HIM!
We are taking him to small claims court.

In the end we were taken. We filed a police report and are in the process of seeking legal counsel to help us get our money back. This [censored] knows exactly how to swindle people to get money . The fact that he presents people with a false contract keeps him from committing a felony. Instead the best we can do is get him by filing a Civil suit. We also hired this company to cut down trees and remove all brush from this property. Agreement was made,contract signed for the work to be done. Down payment of 1200.
Was given to start job. They did clear the area but left all the brush piled along driveway with so many promises to come back and cleanup the job. Several calls were made even promised to return some of the money so we could pay someone else to clean up. We are retired seniors! Very disturbing they can look you in the eye and lie right to your face! Do not hire this company for anything!

On 21 Jan 2020 hired A1 concrete and tree service to remove trees, clear lot and install cement culverts. As of today 24 Feb 2020 the only work performed is the delivery of 2 of 4 cement culverts and the partial clearing of the lot. His price for this job was 2600.00 dollars with a 1500.00 dollars for a down payment. With an additional payment of 200.00 dollars on Jan 16th 2020. From that date I have tried unsucessfully to either have him finish the job or return my money. All I am getting is excuse after excuse of him returning my money. After investigating I have found out that he has operated under other business names using the same phone number with an address of 1905 wordsworth dr. and getting the same complaints.
