Type of a scam Employment
Soon, my first assignment arrives. I am asked to ship something - often electronics - to an address domestically or overseas. You send off the items, but your payment never arrives. You've been conned, and you may have just helped scammers move illegally obtained goods.
Type of a scam Employment
I had put my resume on some job sites. I received an email from a Thomas Starks offering me a job as a supply chain specialist. high paying. I called and reviewed the job. It was really unclear, but we would do a 2 week training and finalize everything on December4. Job started Nov 2.
Thomas starks provided a copy of his drivers license and social card. Seemed odd. He also provided FEI numbers to the company. I researched the company and found a couple of yellow flags. There was a weird address at 2030 South Douglas Road apt 423. The website looked ok. So i went ahead.
I was given a list of items to buy..mainly apple computers. Before I would ship them they would reimburse my credit card before I shipped. I purchased the computers and the emailed me the banking information. Once the reimbursement hit my credit card I would package them and ship them.
I researched the guy with checkpeople.com. Seemed weird because he had an accent and the name he gave was from Mississippi. I became more suspicious and while in Mimi went to the address. It was not there. I called Mr Starks, he informed me everyone is working from home but did not really cover why the fake address and he insisted it wasn't. By this time i had recieved mony on my credit card. He insisted i ship the computers but i had more questions. I asked him about where he was from and if he lived in Mississippi. He said he never lived in Mississippi..but when i confronted him that the person in the DL did, he said oh...I mean not the state but the city he had...Mississippi, Florida.....
I said that i was sorry, but I think this is a scam...he kept insisting it was not. I called my bank...they said that it probably was. I never sent the computers and am returning them. I called the ScamPulse.com and then was informed about there have been a lot of scam complaints from ABCO Supply, LLC. He later called me again infuriated that I have not sent him the computers and he was going to sue me. I told him he should clear it up with the BBB, but he got mad and hung up.
At this time the money is still on my CC. I told my bank all of the details......they say the credits would eventually be reversed.
