I provided this information along with two professional references. This John Connelly told me to contact him the following morning. I did and he offered me a position as a Reporting Data Analyst. Then a HR email from AbleTo send me an offer letter and a W-4, which looked legit. Unfortunately, I gave them more personal information such as my SSN. John Connelly then stated that I would receive a check soon-which I got the following day-for "office supplies." The $4200 check came in from BMO Harris Bank, looked absolutely legit. So, I deposited it into my bank account, which I'm waiting to see if it clears or not. This John character said I can only buy a printer and headset through their vendor, which is another HUGE reflag. I have contacted my bank to report this check is fraudulent, put an active duty fraudulent on my credit cards, filed a report to the FTC and now this report through BBB. I will be going into the bank tomorrow morning to make sure they are aware of this scam. They definitely fooled me. Never give personal information over Zoom messaging. The first interview should be over the phone and the following interview should be either in person or of Zoom video. It absolutely sucks that I fell for this, but if I can prevent someone else falling for this, then it's worth it. Further, I'm not going to send any money to them if the check does clear. I will return it to the bank.
