I needed my house deep cleaned for the holidays and booked Above Beyond Cleaning, who I see the only employee advertise for frequently. I looked at a couple businesses and reached out to one, which I didn’t hear back from and this one, Above Beyond Cleaning, had prices listed right on the site which was convenient.

I booked right on the site, and requested a 4pm appointment on Monday well in advance. I received an email that my request was pending for a couple of days, and then that it was accepted. I then received additional confirmation emails and reminders of my cleaning, and notification the amount for the cleaning was withdrawn from my account in advance. In total I received four emails regarding this cleaning.

Being that this was a deep clean, I did not work overtime on this day and even left a little early from my job. I sent my address per the email’s request the night before and, the day of, something told me to text the number in the email, my address for confirmation. So I did. I got a reply that she was full that day. I replied clarifying I was her 4pm deep clean. She replied she couldn’t make it and wouldn’t be coming. I was a little frazzled and asked for a refund. She said I had to dispute it with my bank and her system auto-accepts the request after a certain amount of time.

To be candid, I have no business disputing the claim because I did want this service and I had no choice in canceling the requested appointment.

I had doubles scheduled the rest of the week and she offered to clean the next day, which I wasn’t available. I told her I needed a refund to hire someone else, which she said she could do in an hour. The sole employee then ghosted me for four days, and when I told her it was fraud for her to keep my money after she told me she had no intention to complete the job, I received an email from “marketing” stating it is in their policy to not issue a refund, but to have the customer dispute it with the bank.

That is ethically wrong and it is fraud. The company keeps the money pre-withdrawn without completing a service or offering the choice to cancel or reschedule ahead of time, and the bank took my card for the dispute. Ultimately, I would be wary if you choose to book with this company.
