On 5/14/2022 I received an email from Karen Resendiz [email protected]. She stated that she received my job application from Linkedin for a Remote Data Entry Assistant position and that she wanted to do an interview via RingCentral chat. I proceeded with the interview on 5/16/2022 @ 9:00 am est. There were some "red flags" that I was not comfortable with but decided to proceed with the interview. One red flag was that I did not recall applying for this job through Linkedin and could not find my submission for this job. The next red flag was that she wanted to interview me not by a Video call but only through RingCentral chat. Another red flag was that she never had her phone number listed in any of her emails and only wanted to communicate though chat. She also did not have an emai with the companies name on it. Usually company emails have their name but she directed for me to email reply to: [email protected] and cc [email protected]. The interview was weird. It was in 2 phases. First she sent a full job description with a large salary that didn't meet the job description or work for the job. Sounds to good to be true and to work from home. She asked if I can do the job and I said yes. Now phase two was 9 questions that were not related to the job or what I have done in the past or anything related to get this job. It was more of questions pertaining to how I would fit in their culture. Once completed, I received an email with an offer letter the next morning. The letter looked professional with a company logo and more details of the job and training with a salary agreement. I was instructed to sign and email to both emails I listed earlier. In my excitement, I signed the document and emailed it back as per her instructions. The following day I received another chat message asking to provide my address and personal information to receive PC equipment for a home office. Here is another red flag. She never provided a W-4 form and onboarding paperwork before sending me equipment. She wants personal information bits at a time. I refused to send it. I got suspicious and called the company and left numerous messages to see if this person exists but have not received a call back to confirm. I also looked in Linkedin and did find a "Karen Resendiz that used to work for Absorption Systems from 2000 to 2016 as a billing account receivable supervisor but now works at another company as an office manager. I found this too coincidental. There is also another Linkedin account that looks fake and has Karen Resendiz in Absorption Systems but there is no information or activity with only 11 followers. This is a big red flag. I decided to chat Karen and ask for her phone number for a call regarding the onboarding but have yet to get a reply from her. I figured she doesn't have a proper number and most likely will not hear back from her now that she knows I am suspicious.

I didn’t give them any info. They said they found me on LinkedIn and wanted to interview me for a Data Entry Position (Remote) for $25 an hour during training and $35 an hour thereafter. I checked my applied jobs on LinkedIn and that specific job was nowhere to be found (it looked like I didn’t apply to that specific company). They said to get the app “RingCentral” and that the interview will take place on that app. I get ready for the interview, and they tell me it’ll be through instant message on the app with “Karen Resendiz,” which is also who I thought I had been in contact with. It was the most bizarre interview. They offered me the job the day after, but Ididn’t respond to the email (they sent it to me about 4 times). In addition, I tried to find the “Vice President” of the company on LinkedIn and found a page written in Russian so they might be in Russia? Karen Resendiz also has a sketchy LinkedIn.
