Type of a scam Online Purchase
I entered my size, and the site had the shoes in stock.
I proceeded to the cart, put my billing and shipping address, and selected "PayPal."
The site redirected me to my PayPal, and when I authorized the payment, I received a blank receipt marked Invoice to a LIHUAMING CO, Ltd, not Achtak.com. I received notification from PayPal that I’d made a payment to ???????? and that [blank] was being shipped to my PayPal billing address rather than the shipping address I’d given to the merchant.
I was never redirected back to the achtak.com site after the PayPal payment was processed. When I returned to the merchant site on my own (via a search for the same shoes), I saw the shoes sitting in the online cart awaiting payment and realized that the checkout process was via HTTP rather than HTTPS.
I entered the tracking number that the merchant provided on the PayPal invoice, and the merchant said that there was no order with that tracking number.
I notified PayPal, who said that as I authorized the payment and refused to refund my money. PayPal gave me an email address to request a copy of the documents they used in determining the outcome of the investigation. I sent a email to that address, and they responded with another message that said I needed to send a letter via the postal service to request a copy of said documents.
When I did not receive the shoes on the date committed by the merchant at purchase, I went into PayPal again, but they would not let me file a separate claim for non-receipt of goods, given they'd denied my claim for the unauthorized transaction.
I have since taken this up with my credit card company, which is disputing the charge, and have advised me to file a complaint with the BBB.
