The person who picked up the phone - without a beat missing - and assumed the role of my "case manager" saying I had outstanding debt with Citibank and that they were going to come serve me at work. He started talking over me every time I started talking - and only stopped when I said I could pay $***.
He offered to match my payment totaling $*** off of what he said was $***, if I could process the payment successfully today. So I of course wanted to clear this off of my credit and dutifully called to clear the fraud alert off of my credit card and called back. They were thrilled it went through, and told me to continue to pay my monthly payments of $*** for the next 6 months, since they brought down the total debt amount to $1***.
I received their email (see attached photos). And received to information about the original debt as promised.
After which I called to cancel my credit card, report the fraud, and began working on the steps to stop identity theft.
