I was contacted by 'Trevor' from ADT, indicating that my home security system required an upgrade to be compatible with 5G, and wanted to set up a service call to upgrade the system. After the upgrade, the technician would talk to me about saving me some money and new security options that were available. I said that my system had been upgraded to 5G last year, but Trevor said there was a problem specific to my area. The following day, I called ADT to confirm the time and date, and they indicated that there was no such service call scheduled. Trevor called about an hour before the scheduled service call and said the 'Security Consultant' was running late, and he wanted to re-schedule. I told him that on our previous call, he said he was from ADT and that my system needed to be upgraded. I asked him if that was true. He then went into a diatribe about how alarm.com manufactures the equipment for ADT, so it was their responsibility to upgrade the system because there was a recall, like buying a Ford. Ford contacts you for the recall, not your dealership. At that point I cancelled my appointment and asked them not to call me again. Trevor mis-represented himself as an employee of ADT, lied when he said he was scheduling a 'service call' with a 'technician' to upgrade my current system for free, and continued to provide misinformation. If it looks like fraud, and it smells like fraud, and it walks like fraud...
