Acting as Best Buy Reports & Reviews (21)

Received a fraudlent e-mail claiming to be a prize survey from bestbuy. The email came from: [email protected] I could not unsubscribe from the email without clicking a link that led to an unsecure webpage. I would like these daily emails, that I have been receiving continuously for the past 11 years, to stop. If you clicked the image or the unsubscribe link it led to these 2 sites: http://serbyakos.com/rd/c23932UueBf24879260VQUU53VVh145749HrJs1686 http://serbyakos.com/rd/u23932GtzJV24879260gCnW53VHa145749GQfj1686

I called Best Buy last night about a warrantee for my new elliptical. Today I recevied an email that I would be charged 386.00 unless I called 888-366-0486. I called and spoke to a man who asked me to download TeamViewer to my computer so that I could complete a Cancellation Form to cancel the charge. Then, the man asked me to access my back account while he still had TeamViewer open. I hung up on the call. He tried to call back from 702-552-2273.

I called Best Buy. The customer service representative verified that the email that I had received was fradulant and asked me forward the email to their Abuse department. The verification # for that call is 290063090.

I uninstalled TeamViewer and UnaViewer from my computer.

Received an email from what appeared to be Best Buy with the subject "Password reset didn't work". When I opened the email, it said I didn't actually have a Best Buy account, but encouraged me to make one? The email and the account appear to actually be from Best Buy. I've never ordered anything from Best Buy. I have no idea how they got my email address. The entire thing seemed weird and fraudulent.

I received an email today 4-18-22 "confirming" my order on 4-14-22 for a subscription for anti-virus services charging me $279.50.

So far, my accounts have not been charged but I did not order this product.

Pretending to be Best Buy and charging 80% off products. This website looks real

Visited Best Buy on a Saturday. The following Tuesday received the phishing email attached.

I was scammed a few days ago. I received a text message and I followed the link in the message. It took me to a website that claimed to be best buy. It said I had one an iPhone 13 and I would only have to pay $2.00 for a shipping fee. I foolishly put in my debit card info. They took in total $159.95 off of the card and totally wiped out the money my fiance and I had left to pay our bills. We called the card and let them know we had been scammed. Now we do not know what to do. They took what little money we had left.

I never ordered any product from Best Buy or GeekSquad.

Was foolish and didn't dig deep enough and bought 2 items. Instant bad feeling and found they were a scam. Tried to cancel, no button to. Tried to email and email is a fake. Opened a PayPal claim which was ruled in Scammers favor bc they provided a tracking number. Called Paypal and they checked with carrier where the package was delivered... Small village and it wasn't even delivered on my street. PayPal immediately issued a refund to me.

Online ad on FB for laptops being sold under 100$ from brand names Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Panasonic, and Razer posted by a Debra G Carter, whose profile was created 3 days ago. Telephone number on profile does not appear to be of US origin. Website teamlse.com links to a site where the logo appears as "BESTBUY," but the contact info for the 'company' only offers an email. Under their "About COVID-19" section, the company name is referred to as "Wittingcheap" instead

Advertised on Facebook, "Teuristes Nolan" Honda Inverter Generator 2200 for $79 with $20 shipping but charged $113.85, On September 2, 2021. Does not respond to email. Provided fake USPS tracking numbers which showed it was delivered. Never received product on date it said it was delivered and someone was home. Paid with PayPal and they will not file claim since vendor showed delivery.

Call PayPal. I just got off the phone with them bc they ruled in Scammers favor. They will call the carrier and check where the "item" was delivered. It didn't match my ADR so they refunded me right away.
I also had proof via informed delivery that nothing was delivered that day if they needed it.

Text with fake info::

Invoice Number: #GEEK-998765

Payment Method: Auto-Debit

Payment Status: Paid

Wanted my name and personal info.

I received an email stating my membership has been renewed using a payment mode auto debit of $249.99 for more information or to cancel call 1-334-595-5080. I was not aware of this membership and called to cancel. This guy by the name he gave me of Alex Marshall Emp. # WADE1126 stated that he needed to put $200 into my account. Me, being confused and stupid, followed his instuctions and at the point of entering he $200, I entered $2000. This guy became very upset and started yelling that I was taking money that did not belong to me and that I had to go to Target, Walgreen or Best Buy and purchase gift cards totaling $2000 and give him the information off the back of the cards. At that time I realized I was being scammed and immediately call my credit union. With their help and me not going to purchase the gift cards stopped the scam and I did not lose my money. There is a lot more that took place but I don't have the space to put it all down. I wanted you to know that they are using the ScamPulse.com logo and Greek Sqaud to try to scam folks. I am going to try to attach what I received.

I contacted my local Best Buy (Levittown, NY) for help installing a smart device and was directed to call the 800 number which was provided to me. I was told they needed to confirm my GeekSquad account information and remote into my computer to set up the device. Within minutes they hacked mine, my husbands, and my daughters credit cards and amazon accounts and made multiple purchases. Still dealing with the matter and Best Buy is stating they are not accountable although they are how I was connected with the scammer and provided information for me to call. I was under the impression that it was really Best Buy and a safe encounter. It was not. (written on behalf of my mother)

Charging credit card with unauthorized charges for “internet 00009922”. $49.99 multiple times per month and again for $79.99.

Tried to call 4 times, spent 30+ min on phone being passed from Dept to Dept, and never resolved, when cornered about scam, hung up on and never called back. Had to cancel credit card as fraud attempts to stop charges.

I received an email from Geek Squad informing me that my subscription will auto-renew and the amount of $499.99 will be debited from my account by today. In short, the email stated, "If you're still deciding whether or not to renew -- or if you just haven't gotten around to it yet-- please make sure you call us at 1-877-747-9668 to get your refund and cancel your subscription, in order to avoid recurring charges of $499.99 from your credit/debit card. We hope you'll choose to renew your membership and remain a part of our community. Thank you for choosing Best Buy and Geek Squad." The email look legitimate until the full email address is view [email protected] ([email protected]).
