msgs sent on WhatsApp from Lisa +44 7731 301535 on WhatsApp from the UK

Hi x, notice from the recruitment department that you need a job. Now I would like to introduce this work process to you. Do you have time???

Hi, do you remember that you applied for an online job at this recruitment company? If you are very busy, I can send you the work content and details directly. You can read my message and reply to me when you are free. Do you think this is okay?

Hey x nice to meet you, my name is Lisa and I'm your instructor for the entire workflow??

Thank you for taking your time, it is very simple and you can easily learn it in 30 minutes.

Have you heard of Expedia?

Expedia Group is an online travel company that provides travel products and services to leisure and corporate travelers, offline travel agencies, online retailers, corporate travel management, and financial institutions. The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Our primary focus is to enhance the travel experience by traveling around the world by interacting with tour guides and forums to attract more customers, thus generating more profit while we earn a salary!

No matter where you are in this job, as long as you have a mobile phone or a computer, you can start your money-making journey. The time is arranged by you, and it will not affect your full-time work time, so you don't need to worry about it???

So far so good?

Okay, now I am going to continue and let you know the process??

All we need to do is click on the platform to submit a booking, and with each submission, the system will generate consumption data that will enhance the star rating and scoring standards of the tour's respective markets, which will attract more tour guides and tourists to them, which will generate profits, and we will get paid in return!

The company will provide us with a free work platform and registration is completely free. The system will send 38 tasks (1 set) to promote our work, 1.0x pay for every single promotion, average daily income: $200-$300

Is there anything you don’t understand about the above explanation? you can ask me??

As shown in the picture above, will you choose the Destination A or Destination B? Most of the online shoppers will prefer to the AVENUE with greater reviews right? We only need to boost the reviews of Destination B . In return the merchant will give us revenue through the platform.

(In the picture its just 2 location one rated higher with more reviews than the other)

If you complete the job every day for 7 consecutive days, you will also receive an additional $500 per week. For one month of continuous work, you will receive an additional $2,600 in basic pay

Up till here Is everything clear ? i hope im not explaining too fast ,if you have any uncertainty do let me know so i can explain to you better??

I will send you the link to the platform and you will register a work account , sound good ?

Now you can click on this platform link to register an account of your own, upon successful registration, the platform will give you $20, as there are only a limited position for the job available, so remember to let me know once you have registered and I will familiarize you with the whole process

At this point i searched the website on safewebtalk.com

and it seems the domain was created 4 days ago.

So I am assuming this is some type of fraud.

I'm speaking with someone now she said her name was susan chopra lol. it's like 10pm. They mentioned exactly what you are mentioning above. Thanks for clarifying all of this. Doesn't seem real. They were being pushy to start training right away but it was so late. So that didn't make sense. Lol. She's being polite but I spotted some weird typos and personality traits throughout the texts. She sent me hearts and saying goodnight to me etc.

So I have been reading all of these comments.. I am currently still "playing the game" with someone claiming to be from Expedia group. The red flags are the grammatical errors and poorly typed responses. I called "him" out on the grammatical errors and they just kept typing and ignored my comments.
They "interviewed " me via Telegram and had the balls to call via Telegram, but you cannot call the number back. Shocker.
When you ask if they are a scam they ask what I am insinuating and say if you're no longer interested in the job just say so.
Should I keep this messaging going or is it a waste of my time. Im trying to get as much information out of them as I can, yet again it is a scam so probably not worth my time?
Also, the email they mailed the "check" from is a Gmail address. Let me know your thoughts.

Glad I researched this person. I got a text message from that exact number. 754-273-7378 claiming to be Susan Howards recruiter for Expedia Group. Me being a recruiter I didn't think anything of it since we do send texts out in recruiting all the time. She asked to add someone name Marcus Webb on Teams to do the interview. I checked his email address and it is an outlook account not related to Expedia Group at all.
WFH Job Scam

I am so glad I researched this offer online. Thanks to all who have posted! I received a text at around 6:15pm (first red flag). Susan Howards claiming to be a recruiting staff member for Expedia Group. I have been applying at many places and I did not remember this application so I started researching it. Same phone number as listed in the descriptions below 1-754-273-7378. They started with listing all the work from home jobs available (second red flag-too many open positions). After a few responses we arrived at the Microsoft Teams link to add to my account (third red flag). Looking for work is hard enough. We do not need this extra aggravation in our lives. I have resumes on four different job boards so I'm not sure which one they obtained my info from or which ad I responded to because none of my applications are for Expedia Group. Stay strong and keep trusting your instincts!

I received a random text message from someone by the name of Samantha Buswell apparently to be a “recruiter” of Expedia group. I suspected this was a scam with today being a non business day and no emails were sent. The phone number they’re sending messages from is area code (754) 273-7378.
Scammer of LinkedIn

- Denver, CO, USA

I sent a resume through LinkedIn. Was asked to have an interview and started speaking with the hiring manager Marcus Webb.

Stated wanted my banking info (for salary purposes). I asked why we were not using video chat to conduct the interview. He/she said they do not... i asked how to verify legitimately of business. No response.

Got a text from a Samantha about an option for interview with Marcus Webb (no photo and on teams) - when speaking with him it was IM to IM and he asked odd questions but nothing that instant raised a red flag to me. There were some grammar mistakes but that happens in chat sometimes.
Then today I got an email (See attachment 1) I had the "interview with Larry Williams (Now looking at this profile picture I believe it to be a side shot of another picture someone posted on here. He did the 'interview" as an IM as well. He asked the following questions...

FIRST SECTION !
( 1 ) What type of jobs have you had?
( 2 ) How did you get your previous jobs?
( 3 ) What were your main responsibilities Achievements?
( 4 ) have you been in the military before?
( 5 ) Are you currently employed?
( 6 ) Are you willing to work flexible or long hours?
( 7 ) Do you have a PC, Printer and a Scanner ?
( 8 ) Are you seeking employment in a company of a certain size?
( 9 ) What phone carrier are you with ?
( 10 ) How do you describe your work ethics?
(11) Have you file tax return 2022 ?
( 12 ) How long do you intend working for The Wellness Way ?
( 13 ) Tell Us why you feel you are the right person for this Job ?

PAYROLL & WORKING SCHEDULE:
1. How many hours are you willing to Work per day? (4hr Minimum per day or 40hrs Maximum per week)
2. What time range?
3. When would you be available to start if HIRED?
4 Payroll Interval? (Weekly or Bi-weekly)
5. Payroll Method (Direct deposit / Wire Transfer)
6. What is the name of the Banks which you currently operate with so as to see if it tallies financially with the company's official salary payment account ?

Once the interview was completed I was emailed this offer letter (see attached) and noticed a lot of grammar issues and capitulation where it was not needed.

Larry is getting upset it is taking me so long to "go over the contract" and wants me to finish it and sign it and return it by today.

It did not add the actual contract I was sent -- so I have screenshot it here.

This [censored] contacted me . This woman Samantha messaged me and said add Philip on Microsoft teams . I did thinking I’ll have an actual video interview . But then he asked all these questions . Sadly this has happend before only through some other scam . Warnings to look for

1- no picture , no video
2- job seems too good to be true with great Positions
3- asking odd questions no interview should ask unless you are confirmed for that position. Especially first conversation!

+3

I'm currently being interviewed through texting for a customer service position with Expedia Group. The offer is ridiculously great. But they're asking for all my personal information with copies of I9 forms.
I can't find the hiring manager's name: PHILLIP ANDERSON anywhere connected to Expedia Group.
This is a two day interaction with elaborate information and a very believable hiring process.
I honestly am unsure what to think still.
Expedia Hiring Manager

Def a scam . No company should be asking for bank name , cell company or any personal questions like that.

This is definitely a scam, the same exact person messaged me today. After searching and searching before I shared any serious info, I found sources that led me to this conclusion. In the screenshots, there were my 2 major red flags.

I had applied job in Indeed randomly when i saw this post for "Business travel consultant" but since i was new to this field I dint expect a reply back bcz it mentioned they are looking for employees with min 3 years of exp. When i got immediate response i was happy later they asked me to send me my updated resume and asked me to share my Skype ID or Whatsapp No. I shared them my number and then replied me saying Given No Is not showing on WhatsApp. then asked me to contact person called Nico and said me to ping him on Whatsapp. I did ping him and dint get any messages the message left seen! later I emailed them back so responding that he dint message back so they asked me to send screenshots. meanwhile I realized this is the pure scam. Guys be careful i have fallen for this kind hack back in 2018 and lost 1,00,000 by sharing OTP . anyone reading this just an awareness guys be careful people want to earn this way when we sit and work day and night . Scammers are everywhere think twice before u reply.

Same as the others listed here. Went through the process and emails seemed automated or pre written but still answered some questions as if they were somewhat responsive. A lot of flags but was curious about the opportunity and honestly had high hopes. I didn’t give too much information other than a bad [censored] resume and Q&A. I hope the scam can end soon. ZipRecruiter was the source that started it all.

I was contacted by Jennifer Michael saying she was a recruiter for Expedia Group and the hiring manager Brian Moore wanted to interview me through Teams. I went through the interview and same day I was sent an offer letter from Theresa Saffe wanting me to sign and return by email. Then Brian Moore advised he was emailing me a check to deposit through mobile deposit only. The check came from Ron Neal claiming he was the accountant. I was leary of the process and kept thinking it was too good to be true. They advised they wanted to send me a certified check for a laptop and then they would provide me with the name of the person to take the laptop to so they could download all the necessary programs. I had an attorney look at the check and he advised it was fake. I then responded in Teams advising Brian that the bank advised it was fraud. He told me that it was only rejected because I cut the check out wrong and he would have the accountant issue a new check for me. I asked him to just western union the money and his response was to tell me to wait for the new check, sign and deposit it via mobile deposit, then send him a screen shot of the acceptance from my bank account. These people are horrible. Don't fall for their scam. I attached some of the information received as well as screenshot of Brian Moore's Teams account and his picture on the profile.

Like many others, I was looking for a job and thought it was a little too good to be true after this last email, ( they "offered" me the job at $28/HR without any virtual interview whatsoever.) I saw the emails that did not correlate to the company at all, decided to do some research via LinkedIn and also about the emails being used. I did not find anything that was creditable. Here is one of the emails they sent and where I stopped before giving too much information. They do have my number and email, but I am not too worried about that. Before this email "Kylene Bell" did ask for an address vaguely to which I just gave the zip code and a county of where I live on purpose because of the email address red flag I noticed. I hope more people find this website after googling their emails. I am posting this in hopes of getting more traffic to this site. People looking for jobs do not deserve to this.
Scam Expedia Group

+4

Yesterday 9/05/22 (Labor day, which should have been red flag number one) I received an email from Kylene Bell saying I've been selected for an interview and I need to email Jeff Hurst at [email protected] (this should have been red flag number two, the email makes no sense with the name or Expedia group).

I went ahead and emailed "Jeff" and he sent me the an email asking for a written interview (a little weird but I'm new to the job hunt so I figured it's a first interview type thing). I filled it out and emailed it back and then barely an hour later I got an email saying I got the job and had just a bunch of stuff about it. But the part about payment and purchasing tech became the final red flag and I came to see if the scam was true.

I knew getting a job offer from Expedia group at my experience level was too good to be true but man what an awful scam to pull. Screenshots of that final email from Jeff and first email from Kylene attached.

I had applied for a role a little over a month before receiving an email from a Kylene Bell (with email “[email protected]”) that I was selected for an interview and was instructed to reach out to “Corporate Recruiter Jeff Hurst” to confirm receipt of this email and state my availability:

* The job listing has since closed.
* A LinkedIn search has no result for a Kylene Bell from Expedia Group.
* Jeff Hurst has a much loftier title in the C-suite as Chief Operating Officer rather than just a recruiter.
* The email for Jeff Hurst was a Gmail address — “[email protected]”.
* Punctuations were misplaced in a message that goes “something something ASAP something ASAP ... ASAP.”

I ultimately reported the message as phishing.

+2

I received this exact same email. Knew something was off from the way they kept saying "ASAP"; they want me to act fast and not think too much about it.

They hired me and had me fill out a W-4 form so now they have my social security number. Thank goodness I didn't give them my bank information. They wanted me to deposit the check into my account via my bank app. Then they asked me to send them confirmation that the check was deposited. My bank labeled it as fraud and they didn't process the payment. Be aware they are scamming people whenever they apply to work-from-home.

The tell you to order your supplies to work from home with the money that you deposit into your bank account. Next they'll ask you if you have a Cash App account. So, you could send the money to someone that handles their product purchases.
I asked for a phone number of the company and they couldn't even do that.
They'll chat with you via Skype, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or anywhere that doesn't require them to show their face to you.

+5

Almost word for word account also.
Except Jeff and his buddy Clark Ryne share the same email: [email protected].
I should have initially realized this was a scam because not one email was *@expediagroup.com. Only thinking about it after the fact, doing some Googling, finding this page did the lights turn on. I hope they send me a check. I'll take good care of it.

I was on a job listing site and app, indeed.com, I applied to a bunch of posts and one was a remote job. I got an email back from them but something was off. I’ve applied now to what feels like hundreds of job listings and this one was a bit off. It was missing a lot of info but was longer then most in my he messages. For starters the email address and domain name to the email used had no correlation to the company. I was skeptical but sent some info, it was nothing that isn’t already public on job sites so I went ahead. This is what I received.

I'm going through the same scam. Yesterday I received an email from a person who represented they are from Expedia Group and will be referring me to an online interviewer. I was asked to be available between 9am and 5pm 'Eastern Standard Time' (it's currently Daylight Time. This was my first flag. I responded and gave my availability. This morning I received an email from 'Jeff Hurst' (or 'Hurst') requesting confirmation of my basic information in order to proceed to the next step, a written interview with a 90 minute timeout. I completed the interview. The questions were reasonable and what could be expected. An hour after I returned the completed document, I received 2 emails from Hurst: first was a confirmation and direction to wait for a decision then second an email stating that I'd been hired. In this email, I would be received documentation from 'HR' to review and sign, and a description of the equipment purchase and check. At this point I checked the email addresses, and none had 'expediagroup.com' as domain sources. I was receiving email from @gmail.com and @applicantsres.com NOT @expediagroup.com. At this point, I decided to check in with a friend who knows a lot about hiring practices and processes. She thought it sounded suspect, and her research lead to this page.

I cannot stress enough how vile and mean this type of scam is and the real damage that it causes. Earlier this summer, I 'lost' $15,000 on two freelance 'clients' who were floating similar check scams. I checked with the banks to verify and both were fraudulent. Last year, I lost several thousand from a sale of furniture I'd posted on Craigslist. All the same: promise of a check, arrival by express, instructions to forward a percentage of the funds to a third party contractor, producer, mover, etc. Last year I lost money. This year I was more cautious, but I lost income for the time I'd promised to the client. Those experiences left me financially weaker. The whole scenario is outrageous. Villians preying on hopeful professionals.

Nearly a word-for-word example from OP just happened to someone I know. I am sharing a copy of the phony communications with personal info removed to help others identify these scammers! They should be ashamed of themselves for preying on the innocent...
The scam continues!
