Hello. Our wifi stopped working sometime 3/15/18. Since I was gone most of the day 3/15 and 3/16, I didn't contact Frontier until 3/16 evening. I assumed I just needed to reset the wifi router or that Frontier had temporary technical issues. The Frontier customer service representative, "Jim", informed me that there was a request to "port" our phone number and as part of that, our wifi was shut off. I have NOT made a request to change ANYTHING on our account - not phone, not wifi, and not dish! Jim promised me that our wifi would be working again 3/16 evening and that he would call me back - neither happened.
We have had this phone number for like over 30 years. EVERY account we have has this phone number listed as the PRIMARY phone number. Now Frontier is telling me that another company owns it, but they can't tell me who. They offered to fix the issue by just changing our phone number. In other words, they may not be able to reverse this! They let someone take over our account by only requiring that a birthdate is provided to gain access to it. Birthdates are easily accessible - They are all over Facebook!! I asked Frontier to not allow someone access to my account with that little of information going forward; however, they do not seem to be able to put additional security measures on my account.
So, even if they do eventually fix this, I am concerned that the fraudsters can just call back and change my account again.
It is 3/17 at 10 AM, I have contacted Frontier customer service and technical support multiple times, and they still do not have anything figured out!!! Our Wifi does not work and they still can't give me a solid answer as to whether or not my phone will be shutdown at any moment and someone else will have it. Our Frontier landline is the PRIMARY phone number that is listed on EVERY account we have - banking, mortgage, social media. retail, etc. Frontier has NO IDEA what company or who has taken possession of it!!!
I also figured out this AM... While I can make calls out on our landline, no one can call us!!! The last time a call came through per our caller ID was 3/14 at 11:16 a.m. CT.
