I had my mother and sister contact me because they received a very threatening voice-mail in regards to myself being "served." I called the number back with the case # they provided and they claim they are a process server company called Addison. I tried asking some questions about the "case" against me because I have been a stay at home mom the past 6 years and have had absolutely no credit cards in my name in that time frame. He refused to give the collections company information from which this debt came from and claims it was from 2017. I have a Credit Karma account and I have not had anything in collections for a visa card for the amount he is speaking of. The man called himself Joseph and had my full social security number but yet did not have my updated address nor phone number. I almost paid money out of fear from the threats of jail and a car lein. After the gentleman hung up on me my common sense kicked in and I Google the company and make a phone call. The only Addison firm is based out of Washington and I spoke with a lady from this company and she told me to file a scam report because I'm about 5th person to call her and tell her the same round about story. I'm scared that they have my social security number and don't know what to do. Please help!
