Can 100% confirm this is a scam.

I came across this position on LinkedIn, where it was listed as "Project Coordinator-Entry Level" with a company called PIRO. I applied mid-July 2024 and was emailed several days later by someone named Marti Graceffo who told me to contact Stephanie Hatfield ([email protected]). Upon doing so, I received the same email as everyone else in this thread...word for word. I was told that my experience had secured the position for me, after sharing my resume. No interview at all...but she would meet with me when she returned from Montreal. I researched her name and nothing came up, which I considered strange but thought I wasn't looking hard enough, as her name is common. She then informed me that I would be receiving a check in the mail that was my pay for the position. She was quite insistent that I notify her the moment that the check was deposited. The check was from American Legacy Signage, INC in Soddy Daisy, TN but was mailed from a fabrication company in Logansville, GA. The morning after depositing the check, my bank contacted me about it. I met with them and it turns out that the check I deposited had the same account number as two checks flagged as fraudulent several months prior. Fortunately, the bank was super helpful and I was able to close my account. The check was marked as fraudulent and turned over to their fraud team for investigation. I have ceased all communication with her but she continues to email me, asking if the funds from the check are available. She said that she needs them to pay her medical premium, haha. So, you want me to pay your medical premium with the supposed salary you paid me? I've never seen a bigger red flag. I actually came across this thread after she texted me for the first time. I researched her number (# 850-979-4372) and am glad I found this page. Stay safe when applying for positions on LinkedIn. This has certainly made me more aware.

This is 100% a scam and the person is insane

I had the same experience as basically everyone else here. When I asked for information regarding pay dates, insurance, and employment verification (I asked for her phone number and office address since she said she was only 15 miles from me), she blatantly ignored that request saying that my priority should be on her business not verification for my self. I thought it weird because most employers give you all the info you need for taxes before asking you to do jobs for them. After sending me the check and me cashing the check in my account, they informed me I needed to turn it into bitcoin and pay all these random people with my name and cashapp. I immediately looked up the address and found this site. I informed them that I found this website and could they explain, then my phone died, and when I turned it back on a few hours later to look at the email they had emailed me like 6 times threatening my life and demanding the money be returned. So now, I guess I should contact the police? Idk, I don't want to send the money back to a scammer, but I doubt their name is Addison Martin or that they live 15 miles from me...they also won't provide me with a phone number.

can confirm this is a scam. contacted after applying for boyd’s data entry on linkedin with the same prompt listed above. and after continuing our conversation for abt two weeks and doing some minor assignments for them (researching a flight) they sent a check. they emailed me with urgency about depositing the check. once i deposited it they asked me to go to a bank and convert the money to bitcoin and send to some other individual. of course after that i knew something was wrong so i didn’t go forward, and when contacting my bank the check was confirmed to be fraudulent. stay safe!
