Received a text that is clearly a recruitment scam. Scammer claimed to be recruiting for Adjust, offering me lots of money for only an hour of work per day in a field I have no experience in. The text came from the email I provided above, and requested that I text the phone number I provided above.

It’s a San Francisco, Bay Area California phone number, I’m on the other side of the country. I knew it was a scam the minute I saw the email address. For starters, it’s a free email account and not one set up with the company mentioned in the domain name like most legitimate staffing companies and head hunters, it’s also a no-longer-in-use-as-of-2013 hotmail account, and lastly the username or “local part” has what looks to be the name Zhang L. Unger, not Lena the recruiter from Adjust (which she oddly put in parentheses).

I was invited to join this online company and to work from home. While being trained, every 5 days I worked I would earn $780 and after 30 days I would earn $3460. My “senior agent’s” name was Aisha. She was friendly enough and started a chat one evening on the second day saying her husband had cheated on her while she was pregnant. When I hit a combination, I had to come up with $300 and Aisha said I could withdraw my funds at the end of the day. I hit another combination or 2 and now I was in it for $1400 when a combination wanted $5000 to finish the task. Aisha said you can only hit 2 combinations in one task. Aisha got pretty demanding and when I told her I didn’t have that kind of money and couldn’t afford to lose the $1400, she repeated over and over the $1400 wasn’t lost. I suggested she help me and also suggested she might be a bot based on some of the things she had said and she came unglued. This is a lesson I didn’t know I needed to learn.
