I was looking for a frenchie to join our family and I found this “breeder” that had a deal with their puppies bc they were expecting another litter. all i had to pay was $600, so i used zelle and paid for the dog. then i was contact by the shippers saying i owed $990 for a crate, but i was going to get refunded the money when the dog was delivered. i was skeptical about this but the breeder kept emailing me saying they’ve used them for years and that’s how they worked and that if i don’t pay right away i will be charged with animal abuse and abandonment because i was the owner of the dog. i paided the crazy amount using western union and was told everything was set for the dog to come. then the next day i checked in with the shipping company asking for details about the delivery and they responded saying i owed another $900 for insurance and that i would be refunded again when the dog was delivered. at that point i contacted my bank and western union but they couldn’t do anything bc they took the payment in cash. i’m still getting emails saying i will be put in jail for animal abuse and abandonment. 1,600 later and i’m upset and dumb.
