- Germantown, OH, USA

The executive director of Adopt A Pit dog rescue, Kirsten Knight, raised over $6,000 for a dog in November 2018. She told the public via Facebook that the dog was hit by a car and had a pelvic fracture, would need a femoral head ostectomy (FHO), and at least eight weeks of crate rest. She ran a public fundraiser not only on her rescue's Facebook page, but her personal Facebook page as well. Each fundraiser, for the same dog, raised over $3,000 totaling over $6,000. After about a week, people forgot about this dog. Some had asked, but received no updates. Then, finally, at three weeks from the time the dog was hit by the car, a video of the same "severely injured" dog running and sprinting outside was posted on the Adopt A Pit Facebook page. What does this tell you? The dog was not as injured as she told the public when she solicited over $6,000 for his veterinary care. Pelvic fractures, without surgical fixation, would probably take 6 to 8 weeks to start healing. An FHO — the dog would not be running around like this, or even be encouraged to run around, at this point. In neither case would a vet be encouraging activity 3 weeks out from when it was taken in.

Please be aware of this rescue and avoid donating to them. This woman steals money from hundreds of people without any guilt.
