We are barley making ends meet. My fiance is legally blind, and because of this he may have been taken advantage of. Not being able to clearly read, search reviews, or examine any fine prints. No, shouldn't have been the one in charge of this task. However, we had no other choice. I work 3 part-time jobs and was unable to search for a small loan at that moment. We have 4 childen, 2 of which have disabilities (ages 6 & 7). Both are being homeschooled. We do not have immediate family, we do not have someone we can call for a loan of any amount. In his search he came across something called a guarantee loan. He put in his info on the site and then started receiving emails. One of these emails was from a company PLAC guarantee. The email looked good, he replied and started to interact with a rep. name John Lathan. *RED FLAG #1*: this man told him they needed a fee of $9.95 to proceed with a verification process, and gave my fiancee the companies contact info. An email and phine number (THIS COMPANY'S CONTACT NUMBER IS TEXT MESSAGING ONLY). My fiancee did not see that the contact info given had indicated this. Therefore, he continued with the process. He paid the $9.95 via Venmo for the verification process. He paid the fee to a company COMPETITIVE VERIFICATION. PLAC then sent an email stating the verification process had been successfully completed and asked him how much he would like to borrow ($500-$9,999). It stated that they guaranteed any amount he had chosen, and that there was $100 refferal fee. He then became suspicious and stopped proceeding any further with the process till I got home to read it all. I then started researching and came across the companies name and a review on the ScamPulse.com (Better Business Bureau) scam alert site. This review was of an experience, word for word, dentical to our experience. This company got us for $10, copy of his photo ID, PayPal, login, , SS#, address, and possibly our debit card numbers. All during the verification process.
