Type of a scam Phishing
I did a reckless thing and called myself taking out a loan to help out my family a few days ago. I looked online and searched for loans. I received a message and letter from a Robert Green, which is attached.
I received a phone call from someone with a foreign accent. I should have known at that point that this person did not sound like a Robert Green.
I immediately started asking questions so this person talked over me and told me that I was approved for the loan and asked had I ever taken out an allotment loan (which is new to me), and that they were accredited through BBB. The phone calls kept losing connection.
Suddenly 794.00 appeared in my account, then I received a phone call from a Daniel Wilson (the letter also had a Daniel Martin). It sounded like the same guy.
He claimed that in order to prove I was me, I had to allow access to the account so my checking would not freeze. He wanted me to withdraw the money and send it to him through Cash App. When I had problems doing that, he became belligerent and told me that I was going to default so he instructed me to buy a couple of gift cards and send it like that, and was able to put some money on Cash App. Now I'm nervous because I have this money and I thought I would just get the loan itself and pay it back every month. In other words, I realized I made a mistake and wanted to correct it and cancel this loan entirely.
I went and had the money uploaded and it was sent through Cash App. I was promised I'd get the loan.
Yesterday, I had 968.00 in my account and was told to repeat my actions, This time around I figured out okay this is a scam and I started questioning them and wouldn't do what was asked and next thing you know, my checking account from Chase is now frozen. I'm going to a local branch bank today and try to straighten it out.
