I have had a horrible experience with Advanced Radiology in Bel Air, MD. On 3 separate occasions they insisted we pay a large amount of money before my daughter could have her xrays and my husband could have xrays and a MRI. They said they could not be seen until the money was paid. We had to cancel 2 appointments due to not being able to pay the money. One time it was $400 the next time was $500 (which was paid by CC) and today was for $343. On each occasion I called our insurance company and each time they told me we did not have to pay those fees. We went to our doctor's instead of paying the made up fee. The next was only supposed to be $30 not $500 and today was supposed to be $200 not $343. I confirmed this several times. I called Advanced Radiology yesterday and spoke to supervisor, Courtney. She told me that the receptionist only verify that there is a deductible but not for the specific test. She said that they charge that full amount and they when they find out that the patient does not owe that money after taking it at check in they eventually refund it. There must be thousands of people that do not take the time to call their insurance company and lose that money. Courtney admitted this. I told her most people do not have hundreds of dollars to lay out. She promply refunded the CC. If you go online there are hundreds of people making the same complaint. Please investigate this. My husband was not able to get his MRI today since they would not see him unless the money was paid on the spot. THis has set back his diagnoses and treatment plan.
