Aera Technology Impersonation Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

I was contacted by a recruiter for Aera Technology she had me join a zoom meeting with Denis Wallace who said it was not a video chat but just text. Then told me about a remote executive assistant position. It all sounded very good and yet gave me a bad feeling. He then said he needed to speak with the board members and would get back to me. I received a letter to sign and give my address which I did, however I wasn't going to send it back because it wasn't worded correct and I pointed out to him it seemed strange a letter offering a job would be worded that way, he responded everything is done digitally so there may be mistakes. I looked up the company again and googled the president and other members, all seemed legit. I sent it back and he said watch for an email we are issuing a check for the mac and other equipment, and thats when I started really asking questions, if your legit, you would either send me this stuff or I would use my own equipment. The check came in ad was about 2,400 I responded again with this is not normal business conduct. He said again its all electronically done including checks. I said forget it i'm not interested and I am not accepting or cashing the check.
He has not responded. However, they have my name address and email.

My name is Adrian Perkins and I was contacted about a remote/work from home job for Aera Technologies. I was contacted by a Mr. Joe E. Castilla or someone impersonating him as a recruiter for Aera. I was interviewed thru text on Zoom & was given the job. The issues started when it came to providing me with checks to deposit that I was to use to pay for work equipment but all of the checks have been forged and/or bounced checks. Someone is impersonating Aera Technology employees as a recruiter with the pretense of offering a job. There is even a legit LinkedIn profile for Mr. Joe E. Castilla. I have the full correspondence between me and "Mr. Castilla" from the moment he & I made first contact. I even have a phone number that was used to contact me by "Mr. Castilla", the number is (410) 424-7853. There is also another number that was used as an initial contact, that number is (304) 518-5215. I will gladly provide any information you need to further investigate. Thank you.
