I received a text that claimed to be a response to an inquiry on Indeed for a remote data entry position. I was asked to install an app on my phone, Telegram, to interview for the position. I was asked what seemed to be many legitimate interview questions. I was offered the position and instructed to "meet" with my training supervisor the next morning at 8am on Skype. I was then informed that I would receive a check to deposit into my bank account in order to purchase materials and equipment for the job. I began to question why they wouldn't purchase the items directly and ship them to me but did not get an explanation. I told them I was not comfortable with depositing a check into my account and I would not be taking any further steps until I could speak with a live person. I was told I would be contacted by HR. I have contacted the company they claim to be with to inquire whether they work there and if this is a legitimate employment opportunity. I began to suspect that this was a scam because not only are they asking me to deposit their funds into my account, but the grammar of their text messages is off. Very suspicious.
