I received a phone call supposedly from Affirm stating they believed my account was being used and wanted to confirm my purchase. I immediately told them I hadn't used my account in a long while. She said her name was Veronica and her employee ID was 2633216. She then set me a verification code to verify that it was really me. I confirmed that I had received it. I was still skeptical on who I was speaking with so asked for more confirmation. She gave me my name, address, phone number and a list of past purchases. I was still a little skeptical but since all of her information matched, I let my guard down. She told me that to correct the problem and no one could use my account, they would have to issue me a card (which I know Affirm has) and my balance $2200 (which she knew) would be transferred to that card. She then gave me a code and proceeded to go through all the steps on the app and at the end I had a virtual card with a totally different number. Then she had me sign to verify I had done it. I confirmed her name and phone number and said a card would be sent to my address.

Immediately after hanging up, I called Affirm at 855-423-3729 to confirm that everything was correct. That's when I found out I had been scammed. I told Mario the whole story and he said he would escalate the complaint and someone would get back to me within the next 3 - 5 days, but it could take up to 30 days. If they found my claim to be fraudulent, the money would be refunded back to me.
