My son applied for a summer data entry job. Someone responded claiming it was from Bayer, but the emails were all from gmail. There was a short interview, they said he was hired, and then they sent him a check for $1500, which they claimed was for buying a computer. He deposited it, but I called the bank to report fraud and have the deposit reversed. After doing some research, it looks like this is a scam to get more than the money back. The bank said he should be okay now, and I told him not to respond to any more messages from these people. He gave them only his address at his college dorm. He did not give them his SSN or bank info.
