I was approached via LinkedIn. The scammers hacked my friend's account about a potential job offer as a mystery shopper. I was taken to a page where I filled out personal information such as my phone number, email address, and mailing address. The scammers said they would send me a check (which they did) and in exchange I needed to go to a major retailer and purchase gift cards. After taking pictures of the gift cards, I was to "evaluate" the store on its customer service.
