Type of a scam Home Improvement
During their time at my home, Shirley disclosed that she and Noam were romantically involved, which she claimed was a violation of company policy which prohibits employees from working together and being in a relationship. She revealed details of their travels, including a trip to Israel to visit his family and a Mediterranean cruise between June and August. While not expressed, it could be that the alteration of Noam's name was an attempt to avoid the consequences of violating company policies.
For a substantial portion of the visit to my home, Shirley engaged with me in conversation, leaving me unaware of Noam's activities within my home during the majority of that time. I got a strong impression that this was by intent to keep me from supervising the proposed work being done in my house and for her to know about my where-abouts during the appointment. Examining the contract provided by Purple Ducts, it stated that they would perform a deep cleaning of the two furnaces and air ducts in my house. After they left, I was able to validate the services rendered firsthand, and it was clear that they did not perform the service they were hired to do. The pictures they provided of the service were cropped just enough to show that they had cleaned off the furnace motherboard. The outside and inside of the furnaces were caked with dust and animal hair. Additional images also showed a very small sampling of cleaned vents. It appears the only air ducts cleaned were those featured in the few before and after images they provided. Upon deeper inspection, it appears they took pictures in a way to frame just the small amount of cleaning they did with a few clothes and not the professional equipment needed to do this type of service. They accidentally left a small leaf blower and two wash clothes, which were the tools they were using to clean. This was contrary to the agreed service and it appears they intentionally deceived me into believing they were addressing all the air ducts in my home and deep cleaning the furnaces. Upon independent inspection after they left, it is abundantly clear that the vast majority of the air vents, ducts, and intakes/returns, along with both furnaces were not “deep cleaned”, yet I was billed the full amount for the service. Furthermore, they included free services in the contract that I did not request, valuing them as zero-dollar charges.
In light of Purple Ducts misrepresentation, deceptive practices, and failure to fulfill the agreed-upon service, I am seeking a full refund of the $2,250.00 charged to me for the purported deep cleaning of my furnaces, air ducts, and ventilation systems. They left furniture out of place and dust in the air from a loud machine, that to my knowledge caused dust to stir up in the air, but not remove any dust from the vents. When I expressed concerns via text with the failure of services rendered, Shirley responded and offered to come back to my home to clean the ducts and vents herself (which would be the majority of them). To my knowledge Shirley has no training or qualifications to do such a job, nor did I feel safe in letting someone that had been a part of such a deceptive operation back in my house. She had already taken so much of my time during the first appointment when she came to my house. She is training to be an injector at an aesthetics office and said she couldn’t wait to be done with these types of jobs. They truly showed a lack of professionalism and a commitment to the services they were hired to perform.
