Air France Imposter - Flight Reservations Change Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Macon, GA, USA • Dec 19, 2024

My husband and I purchased our round-trip tickets on May 1, 2024 ******** from Atlanta to Rome on October 9, 2024, then Barcelona to Atlanta by way of CDG on October 19, 2024.

We learned in September that our cruise would dock earlier than expected in Barcelona, so we reached out to Air France customer service at (1-800-618-0104) on September 2, 2024, asking if we could leave Barcelona for CDG earlier than our scheduled time of 1800 hours. The agent said that if we changed our ticket, the entire ticket would have to be rebooked - at great expense. He said that if we purchased another ticket leaving at 12:40 p.m on 10/19, we could contact Air France when prompted to check in on October 18, and let them know that we would have a ‘dropped leg” on the trip and pay a fee, travel from Barcelona to CDG at the earlier time, then catch our flight from CDG to ATL the following day.

As instructed, we called Air France on 10/18/24 to pay the “dropped leg” fee and we were informed by the agent, Henry, that because we booked two flights in the same day, both were on standby now, and if we flew on either flight, our seats on the flight from CDG to Atlanta on October 19 would be canceled. This made no sense, so we asked for a manager. Henry would not transfer us to one. Henry said we could fly nonstop from Barcelona to Atlanta on 10/19/24 – in coach – in seat 50 C and E – not in business as we had paid for. He said he would process the credit for the unused balance of our business class ticket ($4464.20), but we had to pay out of pocket $5989.60 for these coach seats. This last minute purchase had us flying from Barcelona to Atlanta on 10/19/24 – in coach – in seat 50 C and E – not in business as we had paid for.

I have been waiting for our refund since October 19. I contacted Air France at the beginning of December and was told that no request for a refund had been processed. That did not make any sense as we had the email confirming that Henry with Air France (or who we thought was Air France) had processed the refund request. I then completed a refund request through Air France. In my texts/chats with Air France, it was apparent that what Henry told us was not true. According to Air France those flights were still open, and we could have traveled as planned.

After completing the refund request with Air France, I called the number on the email we received from Henry, (and then went to an online chat with “Allen”. I discovered that Henry (and Allen) do not work for Air France, but for a consolidator who works for Air France and other major airlines. When I called the Air France customer service number on October 18, I had no idea I was dealing with anyone other than Air France. “Allen” informed me that they were working on my refund “off line”, and that my request through Air France would delay the refund process another 30 days.

If Resdesk/Flight-bookdesk/ Traveltxs, as seen on my emails, is an agent of Air France, Air France needs to know that they are acting deceptively. What I believe happened is that when we called to pay our “dropped leg” fee, Henry saw the opportunity to frighten us into changing our flight, made a commission from a new $5,989.60 flight, and the company is now earning another 30 days interest from our $4464.20. Allen also told me in a phone conversation that Traveltxs gets a commission from processing my refund!!

Today, I had further contact with Air France, and they have denied that the number that I called - 1-800-880-8132 is an agent of Air France, and that I have been defrauded. I called the 1-800-880-8132 to further investigate and "Lucy" said they did not process the sale on October 18, but that I was probably redirected by phone to "res-desk" who committed the fraud.

This is quite an elaborate scheme and I have disputed the charges with my credit card.
