I found an ad for a cat I wanted, the person and I had contact through text and email. They said I could have the cat, and would be sending it by an animal transport service. The service contacted me and said the cat would be shipped when I paid a fee of 500 dollars. I paid the amount they told me to. They then said it would be on a plane within two hours. An hour later they said I needed to pay shipping insurance a refundable amount of 2, 000 dollars. I refused because that was not part of our agreement. So the owner agreed finally to pay 1,800 dollars and I would only have to pay 200. First before I sent this money I checked *** *** *** *** ** make sure it was a legitimate company. It seemed to check out so I sent the money. They said my kitten would arrive at 7:15 Wednesday September 16 2015 by plane then delivered to my house. This morning the animal transport service called and said I had to pay an amount of 400 dollars for a cities permit. I researched this and found that I did not have to pay any money. I informed the man that I knew I did not have to pay, he claimed I did. He said the owner of the kitten would pay 200 of the dollars and I would only have to pay the remaining 200. I refused. They then called and messaged me repeatedly to try to get me to pay. I said no, I paid over the agreed amount already and I want my kitten here or I will report them. After I refused to pay, and said I want my cat delivered because I paid for it and they have my address where to bring him, both the owner and transport service refuse to answer me by text, phone and email about the whereabouts of my kitten I paid for. I did some more research non the "owner" and it seems they have this scam running in a few states, using both kittens and puppies. They send the same response to people saying they just moved to Portland , Oregon and can no longer care for these animals. I paid 700 dollars for a kitten that does not exist, they scammed me. My kid is devastated because she was waiting for a kitten to be delivered to our house today. The animal delivery service and the person running the add claiming to be the owner may be the same person.
