I googled southwest.com to get customer service number to book a flight. I accidently clicked on a site/number that was NOT southwest!! The man with an Indian accent told me prices that were higher than what I had seen yesterday and upon looking it up in real time. He said the prices weren't updated yet. I asked him to look at additional flights within 2-3 days from 4 different airports and he said the ones I had chosen were still the cheapest. He sent me an email to confirm the information and asked me to respond yes/confirmed that I was ok with the plan. I did. He then told me he couldn't use Discover...only MC or Visa since I was using "credits" as part of my payment. I have him my MC. He told me there would be 2 charges....one for airfare and one for taxes/fees. I asked him why the taxes/fees were so high/ what they were? He said they were standard. I asked if I could opt out of any of them (like for bags etc). He said no. When complete, I called Southwest "customer service" to inquire why prices were different on their site then with the agents.....they informed me they had the reservation and that the prices I paid WERE the one on the website and that was all....that they had charged $543.96, NOT $887.44. I cancelled my credit card, filed a fraud report, cancelled the flight and rebooked with Southwest. Of note, they also changed my e-mail and phone number on the Southwest website so they would be contacted, not me. I obviously changed it back when discovered.
