[email protected]. She had 6 puppies for sale at $250 which included all vacinations, chip, deworming, potty trained, and shipping. She explained that she had just had a car wreck in which she had to have brain surgery and her little girl was in critical condition. She could not care for her dogs and they needed a good home so she was only taking money for cost. Having bred and sold poodles the bottom cost was ok. The shipping I knew nothing about. My friend and I both purchased a puppy each her on Feb. 4 and me on Feb.5. We were contacted by the shipping company that due to COVID-19 regulations required that all animals be shipped in a special crate. We could rent one for $360 and $350 would be refunded at delivery. We both paid this. Her puppy was to be delivered by 11:00 am on Feb. 5. Mine was to be delivered by 7 pm on Feb 5. My friend was contacted at 3 pm and told she needed to purchase delivery insurance for $750 which would be refunded upon delivery. I advised her not to pay and contacted the shipping company (which I had been in contact with since the evening of the 4th. I told them that this is wrong and not included in the upfront cost. I might understand the crate expense but not the insurance almost 18 hours after they began shipping. That is something you get upfront. He informed me that we pay the insurance or they would take the puppies to a shelter. I told him he could tell me where the puppies were at now since they were supposed to be in our city before they contacted us, and we would go pick them up. He said they are at an undisclosed location until we paid the insurance. I told him I was contacting my bank and the police and they stopped all communication. The breeder continued conversation with me through the morning of the 6th. I told her that from advice of the bank and the police this is a scam. She kept assuring me it was not I just needed to cooperate with the shippers that she has used them often and they were reliable. I suggested that since the money was refundable and she trusted them that she pay both of our $750 and get our puppies which we had paid her for to us. She just kept crying how honest they were and why was I abandoning her puppies. I told her she was abandoning them. She should find what shelter they left them at and I’d go get them. After she would do nothing to work things out with the shipping company that she chose to work with I just informed her that her inactions confirmed this as a scam and she was a part of it. If she really wasn’t a part of it she should refund all our monies and resell the pups.
