I was contacting this puppy seller over the phone and through text. We went through change of ownership documents, a down payment, and started to talk about shipping arrangements. I asked him, BEFORE I PAID ANYTHING AT ALL, what the shipping price was. He told me 380. I thought that was cheap coming all the way from Colorado. I asked him if he was sure he said yes. So I paid him in fully for the puppy which is fine. The 1180 in total including shipping. Now the day that I wanted the puppy shipped out comes and I get an email from some strange shipping company telling me that I need to pay 1820 for travel insurance and 95 dollars for mandatory vet visit 2 HOURS before the puppy could board the plane. They wanted me to send all of this money to a ZELLE ACCOUNT. Absolutely not. I know travel insurance for a pet is never almost 2000. The 95 for the vet visit makes sense. But that extra 1820 was absolute ridiculousness. I called the shipping company to ask if I could use credit card, they said no which I thought was strange. MOREOVER, the person I got in contact with had the same speech impediment as the person I had been contacting who was the supposed “breeder”. I even asked the “breeder” if he could use a cheaper shipping company and at that point he stopped answering me. My father has tried calling him. I have tried calling him. I even tried from my home phone and no answer. I just want my money back. I have depression and anxiety so you can imagine how wound up I was when I realized I had been scammed and I had been looking forward to that puppy. I hope you can help me. I reported him to the AKC and Bank of America to file a claim for my money back.
